We stay here every year for Christmas and have for the last 10+ years. Staff are friendly, great location, so quiet and always feels like a total switch off for Xmas. Hotel room this year was ok - we had a shared balcony - if you can get a room with a river view would 100% recommend! Look forward to going back

What a pleasant place this was. We had food in the Dolly bar and it was excellent. The staff are very helpful. The room was clean and had everything you could want If I was being picky it would of been lovely to of seen outside lights from the bar so you could see the river in the dark

This was our 4th time coming here. With its close proximity to Windermere and beautiful riverside location we favoured it as a secluded retreat when in the Lake District. However, sadly this business has gone downhill: the staff less competent, friendly, and helpful; the amenities more run down; the breakfasts sloppy and the grounds in desperate need of modernising. At multiple points staff were overstretched and snapped at us, even seemingly resenting the fact we wanted to order something at the bar, because they were busy. When highlighting some complaints their responses were narky. Sad to say, our stays here have now stopped and we will not be returning. Their saving grace is the dinner menu and chef and the high standards of the evening food which far exceeds everything else.
