The most concerning part of our stay was an unexpected 3,000 charge to our credit card. The host claimed it was the second rental installment, which they "always collect at check-in." But Vrbo had already collected that payment 3 months earlier. When I addressed the issue, the host was unhelpful and ended our conversation without any resolution, and I had to work with Vrbo directly to get the charge refunded. This lack of knowledge is troubling, especially since we werenât the first guests to book this home through Vrbo (and this host has multiple other listings on this platform). As for the property itself, the location is greatâclose to downtown, with a beautiful bay. Unfortunately, the home had several issues. The washing machine was broken with no plan to fix it until I requested a discount on the property given the inconvenience (then they installed a new one). Landscaping was badly overgrown. We had to cut plants away from the AC unit which was completely covered by them. Garbage cans were full when we arrived, leaving no room for trash the first half of the week. Inside, all the dart tips were broken, one of the ovens didn't work, and ants crawled across kitchen counters and bathroom walls. The pontoon we rented was covered in mildew and needed cleaning. Though the host resolved several of our concerns, I have stayed at many rentals and have never had to message a host with so many issues. Overall, despite the great location, I cannot recommend this property.
We chose this house for our family vacation because there were 16 of us and the house had 7 bedrooms and 4 baths. The bedrooms were a bit small and Spartan, but they worked for our family. I was a little leery about being within a block of downtown Walker, but that turned out to be a real plus, since people were able to walk to shop at fun stores, get Dairy Queen, and a grab some Starbucks coffee. The grandkids had a great time paddling the homeâs kayaks, jumping on a Lily Pad that we brought, and inflatable rafts. I would have loved it if the kids were able to catch sunfish off the dock, but that was not the case. A final key point is that the Lake Life management is very competent if an issue arises. On the third morning of our stay, a major storm blew through that knocked down a huge pine tree on the lot, ripping down the power lines to the house. I immediately called the Lake Life office and talked to Christina about the situation. She got to work and had an electrician and tree service company on site by noon and power back on by 4:00 that afternoon. During the whole process, when I called the office, Christina answered. After the power was restored, we found that the internet router was fried. That evening, Christina and her husband stopped by and replaced/programmed a new router. Kudos to Christina. In summary our family had a wonderful time at the house and went home with lots of great memories and a few stories as well.
We had a wonderful time. House had perfect bedrooms and baths for us. Kitchens had everything we needed. The only thought would be bumpers at right side of dock because of owners pontoon at dock and no real sandy beach. Couldn't ask for a better location.
The house was in an amazing location to walk to shopping and eating in Walker. Only a few blocks off Main Street. Great view of Leech Lake and with 2 kitchens, 7 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms, it had plenty of space for our group.
Our Family of 16 enjoyed our stayed at this home. It had everything we needed to make our meals, and places to sleep. Great location, close to down town and all the fun shops. Beautiful view of the lake from the sun room and some of the bedrooms as well.. was a bit cold but the host took care of it quickly.
