This apartment is located on Calvert Street between Woodley Park and the lively Adams Morgan neighborhood. Just steps to all the nightlife and restaurants on 18th Street and Columbia Road. Also walk to the National Zoo, U street, Dupont Circle, Cleveland Park, Mt. Pleasant, Columbia Heights, and Woodley Park neighborhoods. You can't get a better, more convenient, or more centrally located spot!
The apartment is a very short (5-7 minute) walk to the Omni Shoreham Hotel and the Marriott Wardman Park. The Washington Hilton on Connecticut Avenue is about a 10 minute walk. This makes it an ideal location for anyone attending conferences or events at any of these locations.
You can easily access downtown DC and all the sites of the city. Walk to the National Zoo and other attractions.
PLEASE NOTE: Street parking is very hard to find. During the week, all parking in the neighborhood is 2 hour parking or resident only parking. If you choose to park on the street, please pay very careful attention to the signs (they are vigilant about tickets!). We strongly recommend taking public transportation (see Getting Around below). We do have one parking space available at the building. It is $20/night (about half the price of the local garages). If you are interested in parking, let me know, it tends to fill up quickly.
The apartment is just a short walk over the bridge to the Adams Morgan/Woodley Park metro station (red line) and within 2 blocks of multiple downtown bus lines (L2, 96,42,43, etc,) as well as the Circulator bus. There are also always taxis driving by on Calvert St. and Uber or Lyft is always available.
If you need help with public transportation getting to/from the airport or train station, just let us know!
As stated above, street parking for non-residents is VERY limited, we strongly encourage you to take public transportation. There is one parking space available at the building. It is $20/night (about half the price of local garages). If you are interested in reserving it, please let me know.
This historic building was built in 1908 and has beautiful crown molding, exposed brick, and multiple chandeliers. Relax on the front patio with a cup of coffee or a glass of wine and enjoy people watching. There is a coin-operated washer and dryer in the basement of the building that is available for use. - Please note, pets are not allowed in the apartment, and smoking is strictly prohibited everywhere on the property. If any signs of smoking are found, an additional cleaning fee will be collected. The apartment is in a small apartment building, please be courteous of the other tenants and keep the volume down, especially in the evenings and early mornings. Thank you!
How close is Walk Everywhere! Charming Adams Morgan 1 BR! to the airport?
This bed & breakfast is 8.4 mi (25-min drive) away from the Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) airport, the closest popular airport to the property.
In the best way possible, there werenât any surprises. The listing was exactly as advertised, and the hosts were extremely responsive. Would highly recommend.
Great location- easy access to transportation (buses, metro), zoo, Adams Morgan restaurants, etc. Hosts are great- quick responses, detailed check in/out instructions.Neighborhood feels safe for walking at all hours and building feels safe as well. Parking spots behind building (available by pre-arrangment and extra fee only) are tight- suggest small cars only. Rats are a city-wide problem but we felt this block had a particularly bad rat problem- we routinely saw rats scurrying around behind the building and adjacent buildings and in front of neighboring buildings. Housekeeping in our unit was ok- we felt it needed a deep cleaning (for example hardwood floor needs to be thoroughly cleaned and sealed) and also needs maintenance- several things in room needed repair. King bed mattress was comfortable and there were luggage racks. Could have used more hand towels. The couch/ sofa in living room is tiny and uncomfortably hard. Because of that and the lack of other easy chairs- itâs not really a good hang space. Our biggest complaint is the building exterior looks very shabby and needs lots of cleaning and maintenance/repair. For example - rotting wood trim, stained and dirty exterior finishes, trash, broken fixtures, misc. trash around. It looks out of character compared to many of the buildings on the block. We probably would not stay here again because of the shabby vibe of the unit and building.
Comfortable, Great for walking, really close to metro and Rock Creek Park. Having some better cooking supplies would be nice & some basic condiments, ie: cooking oil, salt & pepper, etc.The heat was a bit hard to regulate. Nice towelsFelt secure & was quiet.
Great neighborhood, but building age brings real problems
The neighborhood is safe, walkable, and very convenient for services and transportation. The communication with the owner was excellent. There is one parking space in the back, and the unit was very cozy with all the comforts of home. And my stay was awful. The steam heating in the unit creates a "water hammer" effect, a very loud and sharp banging when it turns on. Both the bedroom and living room radiator had this, preventing me from sleeping the first three nights. I sent the owner audio recordings of the problem, and after many, many messages back and forth with suggestions to stop it, her husband came over on the 4th day to try to fix it. He explained to me that you had to drain the water from the system, but he did not show me how to do it. He mostly fixed the noise in the bedroom, but the living room radiator still banged away the rest of the week, interrupting my online work meetings and conversations. Everyone must be aware of this before booking this unit, especially in the winter.Other challenges: the back stairs to the alley are very narrow with no real railing. Also, the TV is on an Amazon fire stick. If you don't have an account, you can't get to most channels. Lastly, the tub/shower lever is hidden in the tub spigot and took some real detective work to figure it out. Sadly I won't be staying here again unless they replace the old heating pipes with ones that don't startle you several times day and night.
Good place for a couple to stay in a very cool neighborhood with lots of entertainment and restaurants to walk to. Clean apartment in a safe neighborhood.
Loved staying in the small cozy spot! The location was perfect for getting around town on the metro! Great places to eat within walking distance. Gelt super safe as a woman travelling aline. Agent was super responsive when thwre was a small issue.
Location is great and property is super cute. Would recommed this for two people and no more. The pull out sofa isnât great but the apartment is fantastic for just a couple who can share the main bed. Not a ton of amenities but perfect if youâre just using it as a home base. Again the location is great!
