Cabin was overpriced for what you got. The weather was snowing, temps in low 30’s walked into a cabin with no heat on. It took all night to get heat up where you could take your jacket off. Restaurants for breakfast was terrible,
The cabins at the Lake Yellowstone Hotel were a great getaway. They were within walking distance to the lake, dining and other attractions. Would definitely stay again.
We loved our little yellow cabin at Yellowstone. It was nice and comfy on a wintry May nights.

Disliked: Amenities
Checked in at 3:10 pm room not ready told check at 4 pm
Checked at 3:54 told comeback in 15 minutes
4:15pm not ready come back in 25 minutes
At 4:45 asked for any room
We had paid through Expedia for 1 night at 299.00 for a King bed.
At 5:00 pm front desk said she would call us, took my number and said housekeeping was behind,
At 5:45 we went back to the front desk after I tried calling NPS finally called a switchboard at Mammoth springs
They said to check with the front desk
Went to front desk at 5:50
They did not have the room we purchased even though it was confirmed.
The woman who said she would call me had left on a break and never called.
The asst manager helped us and new our name without needing to ask
And said we did not have the King room
I said any room would work at this point.
She said she had a Queen room ready and she was sorry, she would work on getting a 25% discount for us through Expedia since it was
All ready paid for.
Room272 was a full bed
Not a queen bed a rock on the bathroom floor and hand prints on the door.
If the hotel was closed and the lodge was not staffed to open then they should not have accepted reservations.
It was snowing, it is an hour out of the park for any other lodging
Not acceptable to not have lodging prepared.
The front desk told us 10 workers did not show up today, so if that was the cash management should have figured out an alternative plan.
The lodge had 4 large blue bags of dirty laundry in the lobby lounge entrance.

Old cabin no food on site
Cabins are old and are adjoining with another. Luckily the bathrooms are attached. You can hear the shower running toilet flushing and even phone ringing in attached cabin. No food onsite as kitchen is being remodeled so only other option is Yellowstone Lake lodge. Awful food you order at a kiosk and it takes them 30 minutes to serve it to you 4. They are lucky there is no other option. We left hungry in the morning and drove out of the park to eat
Cabins are right off the lake. Beds are decent, small bathrooms, as expected for area. Cooking outdoors only. Request broom at check in to clean floors. Inquire about towel service if you need it daily.
Unfortunately, the main Lake Hotel building was closed for renovation. This was not make clear beforehand. We were put up in one on the adjacent buildings. Staying at the Lake Hotel would have been preferred due to its location facing the lake. So, it is hard to rate the property.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
This property has three types of accommodations - the hotel itself, cabins and a lodge which are all close to the main hotel. The main hotel does not offer king beds and if you want this type of room, you will be assigned to the lodge. This building was once used to house staff. That tells you all you need to know - bare bones, but decent. No staff are onsite at the lodge. It is primarily for sleeping. There are 4 chairs in a little sitting area right by the front door. The bathroom vanity is outside of the bathroom, the bathroom floor is linoleum and the tub is one of those molded fiberglass types. The walls are stucco. The room was clean.
Our friends stayed at the hotel. The walls were plaster and had crown molding.Their bathroom floor and walls were tiled and the bathroom had premium fixtures.
The breakfast buffet was good. The food off the menu is average at best. My coq au vin was inedible. They should take it off the menu if they can't do a better job. It bore no resemblance to coq au vin whatsoever.
The lobby is impressive! Large windows, comfy seating areas and a pianist provides soft music in the evening.
The staff is very nice and knowledgeable. They come from all over the world and their home country is on their name tag. It was fun to talk to people from so many different places.
If you can, take the scenic boat ride around the lake. The ride departs about 5 minutes from the hotel.
I would definitely stay here again.
