Our apartment at Victoria Cloisters was roomy, clean and well stocked. The staff are friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend.

Great location, lovely apartment, clean and pleasant. However stay was very uncomfortable due to heating being on full blast and unable to turn off, plus mattress is well overdue replacement and super uncomfortable, so terrible nights sleep. We did mention to the cleaning and reception staff, and it appears that this was not new news!

Hotel was lovely, we had a river view room and it was great! Other reviews said it was noisey outside but nothing disturbed us. It was a sunday night though. We didn't eat in the restaurant or have breakfast so cant review that. Overall great night, we will come back

The hotel is in a great location by the River Ouse and all the main York attractions are easily walkable. The superior river view room was spacious and nicely decorated. Staff were friendly and helpful and the buffet breakfast had a good choice of hot and cold food which set you up for the day

We booked what we thought was a room with king size bed, it turned out to be an apartment. Nowhere on the booking or the website say that the apartment was in a different location to the hotel. Reception explained where it was & gave us 3 keys. When we got to the road they’d sent us to there was nothing to say anything about queens hotel so we had to ring hotel for more directions. We had to unlock a gate to get it which was very difficult to open, then unlock an outer door & then climb 2 flights of stairs. Apartment was very clean but had single beds. Had a dressing table but mirror was so far into the corner of the room there was hardly room to dry my hair. There was a double plug under the dresser but only one worked & there was no light on or around the dresser & no light directed to it. Was a very dark corner & there was no telly in the bedroom.

The hotel location is amazing right on the river and close to shops bars and restaurants. Our room was warm, clean and comfortable. The staff were welcoming and helpful. Breakfast had lots of choice and was tasty. Unfortunately the car park was under water during our stay and we had to find alternative overnight parking which was expensive. I would book this Hotel again.

Positives: Location, location, location!!! Apartment was clean, tidy and warm just what you need for a weekend trip Negative: if your placed in a top apartment with a heavy suitcase the stairs are a killer - no lift The bed is not a king size one as advertised- but was just me so it was fine
