Comfortable and tidy room, good basic breakfast and very friendly and welcoming staff. All within 2 minutes walk of the centre of Ambleside. Great value for the price
Excellent place to stay in Ambleside with clean cosy rooms and friendly staff. They were very accommodating to my request of a slightly earlier breakfast as I had to be out early doors. Would recommend staying here & will definitely be back!
Ambleside was our favorite place visited in England. Beautiful place. The hotel is right next to a fabulous church. Lots of places to walk, shop or eat. Staff was so very nice and the included breakfast was extremely good. I recommend this hotel most strongly. Just awesome.
Very friendly staff, great location with parking, very good breakfast. Room was good, although the TV was a little outdated, minor considering the location but notable. Shower was also just a dribble. Otherwise a great stay.
Very friendly and helpful staff, perfectly situated for towns restaurants and parks. Very clean and modern room with tasty breakfast. Highly recommend.
I arrived late and left early but Sharyn and the team made sure my short stay was very comfortable and thank you for the upgrade! much appreciated. Would highly recommend!
Had a lovely stay in The Gables and would definitely return. Couldnât say one bad thing about anything, the room was beautiful and so clean, had everything we needed. Our breakfast was also lovely, as were the owners/staff. Couldnât recommend it anymore!
Very welcoming and friendly; efficient COVID setup which worked well. Really liked the cooked breakfasts and many thanks to the breakfact team for looking after me so well.
Good location; <5 minutes walk into Ambleside town centre with lots of restaurants etc, and straight onto Loughrigg Fell via the churchyard and Rothay Park.
Only minor quibble is the lack of assigned parking (very small car park, but there are some spaces outside the entrance which are available on a first come first served basis. Would definitely stay here again.
Overall a good experience although the room photo that we saw on VRBO for the price we paid would have been fair, but the room allocated on arrival was tiny in comparison!
They should not have opened as they treated us like lepers, they were so paranoid, we felt so unwelcome!! Breakfast was a cold bacon or sausage roll, left outside your room in a bag, dry no butter, they said they had no sauce either??? Upon leaving, didnt even ask if we had a good stay, as they kept out of the way, im appalled at the way we were treated!!!
Nicely central for the town. A small car park but we had no problem parking. If it was full you would struggle due to the obvious parking restrictions in the town. Both the room and the en-suite were reasonably spacious on the top floor, and very clean. Considering that our room faced the main road it was surprisingly quiet at night. The cooked breakfast was very tasty, with cereals also available, but no fresh fruit on offer. There were various canned type fruits though. Service was 'with a smile' which is always good!
The guesthouse is situated in a sidestreet opposite a recreation ground and near a church, so is quiet compared to the main road nearby which was busy with non-stop traffic due to the Easter holiday when I stayed. I booked a single room but was upgraded to a double-bed room upon arrival. The view from the window was pleasant, overlooking the sidestreet, church and recreation ground. The breakfasts were good on all 4 mornings of my stay, with plenty to choose from. The staff were all friendly and helpful. I was able to park my small car in the car-park, but there was no spare space at all, what with it being busy at Easter.
