Lovely unique house

From the unique decorative touches and art in every room to the cozy handmade quilts on the beds, this property was a lovely place to get away for the weekend. We especially enjoyed the interesting history of the Brisbanes in the living room! Thank you for sharing this marvel with us.

Great restored historical property built in 1868

5 stars for Delores, and I think I missed "communication" by accident. She gets 5 stars for that, especially! We had a number of exchanges and I was pleased she and her quilt-loving friends were able to stay at the house. She was kind and responsible and I highly recommend Delores! Lovely place to be
Posted Aug. 31, 2023 on HomeAwayWe spent 3 nights while attending 6 plays at American Players Theater. The Stone House is perfect for such an outing. Samantha is very responsive and welcoming. We hope to be back in 2024.

Second Stay!
Posted Jul. 23, 2023 on HomeAwayOur family loved this house last summer so we returned for another vacation. Sam is a great host, everything was immaculate, with plenty of supplies and everything we might need. This year we enjoyed Cave on the Mounds, Taliesin, and American Players Theatre. We can’t wait to return!

Tanya and her family were absolutely amazing guests--it was a pleasure to communicate with her (again) and help her craft the best vacation possible. She left the place incredibly clean and even started the wash. Super conscientious and we'd be lucky to have her back again. Icing on the cake were the drawings and critiques left by her kids. Some young savvy travelers in the making! The absolute best!

Escape from Fireworks
Posted Jul. 9, 2023 on HomeAwayBrisbane House is a gem! Sam and Bruce did an amazing job restoring this beautiful home. Plus communication with Sam is top notch, always working to improve the vacation.
Our goal was get away from the city fireworks (for the dogs) over the holiday. We got just take at Brisbane plus the country living. Hope to be back.

Katie and her friends were terrific guests and I was glad to host them away from (most) fireworks! Katie was responsive, respectful, and posted photos and left a sweet note in our book. We'd be glad to have them back--the two- and four-legged!

Hayne and his family and two dogs were super guests! Hayne was terrific at keeping in touch and asking questions. He was interested in the area and sounds like they loved the house itself. He and his family were really considerate and respectful of Brisbane and left it clean and tidy. I hope they come back in the summer to experience another season at Brisbane. We'd love to host them again! (Hayne, where did you end up going for dinner?)

Christmas 2022
Posted Jan. 3, 2023 on HomeAwayOur family of 5 adults had a great Christmas at Brisbane House. The owners have done an amazing job thoughtfully restoring this historic home. Despite a cold snap, we were cozy and comfortable with all the modern conveniences you would need. The owners surprised us by providing a live Christmas tree and pine trimmings sourced on the property. The property itself is lovely and isolated with snowshoe trails extending back into the woods. We regretted that it was too cold to do more exploring on the trails. Also, the artwork throughout the home was beautiful. We look forward to trying Brisbane House in other seasons.

I am not sure Andrew left anything out of the ideal review he left for us, we're so grateful! He and his friends and family were extremely respectful of and cared for the Brisbane House, letting us know of things that needed attention at the end of their stay. Andrew was excellent at communication throughout and informed us, ahead of time, of some needs that would make their stay most comfortable. He was super quick in his responses and perennially cordial. Our neighbor sighted them enjoying our property and walking the trails that crossed over hers and remarked on their apparent enjoyment! We'd leap at the opportunity to host him again and will make sure it's just as memorable a stay as it was at Christmas time. I don't hesitate to recommend Andrew to future hosts. Golden welcome mat award!

Quaint, Cozy Perfection
Posted Nov. 28, 2022 on HomeAwayOur family of four (parents and 2 grown kids), along with our two dogs spent the Long Thanksgiving weekend at The Brisbane House. Communication with the owners was great - they answered all of our questions and the photos on the website are 100% correct and helped us greatly in planning. The charm of this home is only outdone by the functionality of its cozy rooms. We easily made our Thanksgiving meal and had plenty of room to eat. The summer kitchen addition (which is a large windowed bedroom w a loft) is stunning. If you have elderly guests, I’d for sure rent this additional room, as the steps are quite steep to the main house bedrooms. It is also functions as a good escape if you need to take a nap from too much Turkey !! Some of our favorite features: fan on timer in bathrooms, very private lot, pet friendly yard, fun beautiful rooms with unique wallpaper and paint colors, very clean, great window covers, books and articles about the house’s history, easy to use TV, and of course the little touches - slippers provided, quality bedding and towels, captivating artwork, glass doorknobs. Honestly, just a one-of-a-kind home that would charm anyone. Highly recommend 10/10.

Liz and Mark are in the running for world's best guests. We just loved the idea of them spending Thanksgiving (full sized turkey and all) with their family at Brisbane. They were ideal guests from beginning to end. They communicated beautifully both before, during, and after their stay. They respected the house rules and cleaned up after themselves and their pets. Best of all is that they appreciated our historic preservation and design efforts and we were thrilled to think they felt comfortable in the space. We'd have them back in a heartbeat and you'd be lucky to host them, if you get a chance. 5+ stars. THANK YOU PILOTS!!
