The hotel was great, helpful staff, the spa facilities were great and the spa staff were very attentive and we had a lovely relaxing massage. Location wise, perfect for what we wanted, easy access from the airport via aerobus, everything was pretty much walkable and there are good transport options within easy reach. I would recommend this as a great place to stay, we would happily stay there again.

Beds are super comfortable. Rooms were large enough. Staff extremely friendly. My only complaint is that there was no coffee in the room and no lotion in the room.

The hotel is beautiful and the staff are courteous and efficient. La Rambla is a construction site just now, but there are plenty of excellent places too eat in the vicinity. The rooftop bar is one of the best features of the hotel, but could be improved if, on each side, there were signs indicating the sites in view.

Excellent Quality, Servce and Ambience

We enjoyed everything about our stay at Hotel 1898. The location on La Rambla is within easy walking distance of many important landmarks but he hotel is extremely quiet once you’re inside. The room was huge and cozy at the same time - loved the absence of carpeting on the floor. The staff were efficient and friendly, and breakfast was delicious, as was the light menu jn the bar. A pleasant surprise was walking back from the hotel after a concert at the nearby Palau de la Música Catalana and finding a live jazz duo playing in the lobby. Highly recommend this hotel. Heads up - there is a major construction project along La Rambla, and while our taxi driver could have dropped us off right at the hotel entrance which is actually on the side street (Carrer del Pintor Fortuny) around the corner from La Rambla, he was inexperienced and didn’t know where it was and therefore dropped us off (with all our luggage) on La Rambla which wasn’t easy to navigate.

The pool, the hotel, the food magnificent, the check-in at 3 pm when you arrive at 7am is inconvenient and then the checkout at 11am when your plane leaves at 4pm also inconvenient. On the boulevard keep your wits about you lots of nefariousness!

We turned on the AC and there was a foul sewer smell that permeated the room. It was late at night and we tried to call the front desk but the room phone did not have any directory and we couldn’t find information on how to dial the front desk. We were concerned that the fumes were noxious so we slept with opened windows until finally we closed them because of loud noise from the Rambla. The next morning upon checking out the front desk was unapologetic and lectured me about where I should have found the front desk number. The room was otherwise nice but did not have complimentary bathrobes and there was no carpet which seemed odd. It would not recommend this hotel for the price.

The customer service was terrible. My room was very very loud and the air conditioning barely works at this hotel. It was also had a strange smell. It’s barely above a youth hostel. I do not recommend anyone going here.
