The apartment is located in an excellent position in the historic center of the city of Bari, a few steps from the main tourist attractions such as the Basilica of San Nicola (pilgrimage destination from all over the world), the Swabian Castle, the Cathedral, the Petruzzelli Theater and the promenade.

You can immerse yourself in the warm and suggestive colors of the alleys of the old city, a few steps from the main shopping streets.

The District of Bari Murat spreads between the railway and the coastal roads with its orthogonal grid, and together with the late Old Town constitutes today’s centre of the city.

The district is named “Murattiano” since Joachim Murat (Marshal of Napoleon Bonaparte), inaugurated and supported, during his government at the head of the Kingdom of Naples, the construction of the new area near the ancient medieval city of Bari.

Indeed, Murat promulgated the decree for the construction of the “new town” (or “gioacchino”, then “murattiano”) in a flat area in the south of the old centre, while the walls surrounding the old city were gradually dismantled and replaced by current Corso Vittorio Emanuele.

The Murat is the most vibrant neighbourhood of the city. In the area there are some of the busiest and most vital places in the city as Corso Vittorio Emanuele II and Piazza Umberto I overlooked by the majestic building of the University.

Musty Rental

We got off on the wrong foot when we did not recieve our check in information at the time we specified. After several direct mesaages to the host through app, and calls that were left unanswered, I had to contact Vrbo directly. Only after all of this were we messaged on whatsapp, rather than the app, and were able to get the information we needed to access the property. Once inside the rental, the thing that stood out the most was the musty smell of the space. Its clear that this was a known issue as there were scent diffusers and air fresheners through out the space, however they were all empty. The lack of AC and struggling de humidifier only amplified the smell. As a result we only used the space to sleep as it was not enjoyable to spend free time there. Overall the place seemed clean, however there was no hand soap, and hardly enouch toliet paper to last our stay. The location of the rental really can't be beat, but didn't make up for the smell and other inconveniences.
