This is a beautifully appointed hotel, across the street from a large walkable park. The restaurant food was very good and the bed, linens etc comfortable. Unfortunately they were cleaning the hallway carpets and powerful chemical fumes permeated the room. We were graciously relocated but the odor was moving through their air system. Perhaps they should change their choice of cleaning product to something less noxious.

Overpriced Airport Hotel Fails To Deliver

Pros: The staff were very kind and sympathetic, but they could not solve the hotel's problems.
Cons: The entire guest experience could be improved from top to bottom, starting with the shuttle connection at the airport.
Location: The location is very close and convenient to the airport, which is the main reason anyone stays at Cordis.
Where to begin? 1. Wifi internet never worked for me during my entire stay and IT staff failed to visit my room as promised. 2. My "non-smoking" room smelled like smoke. 3. Lights did not work in the shower/bath area. 4. My room must have been 300 meters from the reception desk. It was extremely far away at the back of the property, taking 15 minutes to walk there at a brisk pace. I was told that there were no king bed rooms available closer to reception. A queen bed room in a better location would have been preferable and/or the room should have been discounted. 5. There is no easy way for a non-Chinese speaker to find the shuttle at the airport, since most employees there late at night speak no English. Like many other foreign travelers, I was charged $20 at the airport taxi desk for a taxi ride that took less than 5 minutes to reach the Cordis Hotel. One driver even tried to charge me $60! The hotel needs to arrange for foreign guests to find the shuttle more easily. I paid $135 for at $25 hotel stay.
