Night mare

Posted Dec. 29, 2017 on Expedia
Pros: The staff was very kind.
Cons: Just fix door, heat controller
Location: Were were close to everything
Moldy shower curtain. We paid for new one. Control for the heater was broken,we were freezing all the time,we wore our winter jackets all the time. We ended up leaving two days early because we were sick of freezing .stayed 5 days paid for seven days. Broken patio door that we were told to wedge a long stick in to lock it an stop cold coming in. Only a half of roll of toilet paper for seven days. The staff was nice.the boss was in Vegas for the holidays.

Big Disappointment

Posted Sep. 10, 2017 on Expedia
Pros: Nothing
When I went to check in to the Inn I could see from the state of the lobby that this motel had seen better days. It was clear that the new owners were in the process of renovating the old motel. Uncharacteristically I asked to see the room before checking in. The room door would not stay shut if it were not locked. The air conditioning wasn't on (temp in mid 30s) and I could not get the air conditioner to work. There was a sliding glass patio door with a badly broken screen on it and the view was of a dried out, brown lawn. The manager(?) said he would show me another room. In that room the very old air conditioner was actually plasterd into the wall. The view from that room was of the large pile of renovation debris. I didn't stay long enough to see if the air conditioner put out any cool air and I told the manager(?) that I would look for another room in town. The Inn did charge me for the room and I called Expedia to complain. The service rep called the Inn to request a refund but was told they would not make a refund and that my expectations were much too high. I have been booking rooms with Expedia since at least 2004 and I have never walked out on a reservation before. I learned that I cannot count on an acceptible level of accomodation when booking with Expedia which I find quite dissappointing.

Bugs and stains

Posted Sep. 4, 2017 on Expedia
Pros: It was very inexpensive, but I guess you get what you pay for. The floors were laminate, and appeared to be relatively clean.
Spiders and silverfish in the bathroom area, and what appeared to be a cockroach crawling on the tap. Sheets and pillowcases were stained. Entry and hallway smelled like cigarette smoke, but thankfully the room did not. Instead of a window, there was a patio door out to a grassy area full of cigarette butts. The screen didn't lock so I was unable to leave it open to cool the room down overnight, and the air conditioner was old and didn't move much cool air. If I hadn't been too exhausted to think I would have turned around and left as soon as I saw the place.

Great breakfast at a decent price

Posted Aug. 8, 2017 on Hotels
Cook to order breakfast was awesome for my family and the kids loved it. Very close proximity to spray park and museum. The owner was nice and would do everything he can to make you feel comfortable. Considered the price we paid, all in all a good experience.

Couple of days in Brooks

Posted Aug. 3, 2017 on Hotels
This hotel has plainly seen better days. It appears to be a work in progress with renovations. It certainly is not for anyone who likes pleasant surroundings. That said the owner was friendly and hospitable. Free hot breakfast was very nice. Rooms are secure with door codes and no keys to worry about. We had a large room which was very comfortable, although older style. For the cheap price we were quite happy with our stay as we were only at the hotel at the end of each day.

Great value if you have an open mind

Posted Jun. 30, 2017 on Hotels
This is definitely a budget hotel. When we pulled up, I wanted to leave. However, we took the time to have a look at the room before we checked in. Very basic but 2 queen beds and clean. We had to go to the restaurant to get ice and an extra towel and overnight we ran out of toilet paper and realized there was no more. Luckily it wasn't a problem! When you ask the owner for things (it seems like it's almost a one man show in the evening/morning) he was very accommodating and attended to us as soon as he could. For example, I asked for cream/milk in the morning and he gave me creamers and a cup of real milk. The breakfast was awesome: cooked to order, choice of four items (of 2 eggs, 2 ham, bacon, pancake, etc) and choice of one drink (including milk and juice -decent sized cups too). So for $76 we got an overnight stay and three really decent breakfasts. Definitely a score for the budget conscious! Plus, we were speaking with the owner as we finished our breakfast and he asked about our plans. He highly encouraged us to go to Dinosaur Provincial Park because it's only 40 km away. We decided to take his advice and are so glad we did. Would I stay here again? For an overnight, not if I was to stay for a few days.

NOT BAD

Posted Apr. 28, 2017 on Expedia
Best part was a great breakfast. Way better food than most higher end hotels. Worst is bathtubs have 3 layers of paint on them and it's round everywhere. 10 doller Reno on each unit. Rooms were clean, beds were comfy, big breakfast with meat and eggs.
