Avis pour Large Home w/ Fire Pit and Dogs Welcome!
Communication with Del Mar was wonderful! The house itself was outdated but wasnât a big issue as we were in town for a wedding and didnât spend much time at the house.
I tried to communicate a couple of things, but received no response to my text after checking in: there were ants in the kitchen/patio door area, there was a brown widow in the primary room window, one of the arms on a dining chair was in need of repair ( we moved it so it wouldnât be used) and the primary shower head needs some plumbers tape since it has a small stream of water that shoots to the floor when the door is open. But otherwise it is a lovely home to stay in and we really enjoyed visiting Cape Cod.
We all enjoyed the spacious common living areas, as the rooms are quite large. The bedrooms and baths were also ample size. There were, however, several items in the home that could benefit from updating (eg., master bath, lighting in bedrooms, kitchen, etc.).
All in all we would recommend for the fee.
We rented this property on the weekend we were celebrating our best friends wedding. The amount of space was perfect for multiple couples to navigate around each other. The bedrooms were spacious and the living room was perfect for gathering around and catching up. While the decor seems a but too personal and outdated, the space still proved perfect for what we needed it for. Del Mar was incredibly communicative throughout the whole rental process and I would absolutely seek out a Del Mar property again, and recommend to friends!
The space was very nice, large open living room/dining area. Nice light upstairs in common area. Separate living room area down stairs accommodated multiple activities. The house was fine for what we needed, but we have been going to the cape for many years and for the price we hoped for a bit better experience.
For example: key code for front door worked only sporadically. Needed multiple attempts to open door. We tested this out by trying it when we were there, and observing that it worked only after three or four attempts. We ended up not locking the door, so that we could be sure to get back in.
Bedrooms were dark and not well lit, and musty downstairs. Lights were difficult to figure out. House was only surface clean, with dirty dishes in cabinets, filth under chairs, and behind and under furniture that was not moved for cleaning. Deep cleaning needed. It seemed that we paid for cleaning that not was not done well.
Very loud cricket inside downstairs behind fridge. Instructions for basic house functions not provided. Ie where light or heat/cooling controls were; which trash receptacle was for garbage versus recycling. Dehumidifier hose in laundry room was not connected to drain. Hot and cold water in upstairs bath was reversed. Meat drawer in fridge was broken. Some throws in the living rooms would be nice.
We also encountered a hostile neighbor who yelled at one of our non- white guests for no reason for being on the street outside his property.
The Del Mar staff was excellent, very attentive. They were absolutely committed to doing things right.
The house was very spacious. There were seven of us, we were never on top of each other. The kitchen was well outfitted, grocery store 7 minutes away.
The house and yard were not well kept. A few issues with hot water and the HVAC, that was a bit disappointing. However, as the Del Mar staff was so accommodating, it made up for the few deficiencies. Del Mar gets an A+
This home has plenty of potential and is in a nice neighborhood, but somebody from VRBO needs to instruct the renter on what makes a great VRBO home, and we've been in many over the years. We realize that, as the owners mention in a note to renters, this house has been loved for decades by the residents. Unfortunately that also leaves them comfortable with some of the negative issues. Biggest issue is maintenance, especially outside, lots of weeds, shrubs and trees need trimming, there is a rotten board in the outdoor shower, and the firepit area is very messy. Similarly the inside is very dated, dishes and silverware need an update, coffee pot is way below most VRBO houses. Lighting in the bedrooms is very weak, and instructions for the house are too. Where is the usual VRBO notebook for renters? And please get rid of the streaming on the TV. It's 200 worthless channels. Oh yes, the internet didn't work even though DelMar made three trips in. but my son linked in through his phone, and bought Paramount so we could watch good TV channels. And you need to put a drain on the dehumidifier so renters don't have to empty it 2x/day. This home could be a gem (limit to 8 people btw) but please take this list to bring it up to speed.
We liked the property in general. It can hold 8 people I believe and were that the case, they would need some more mugs as there were barely 8 in the cupboard!
The house was clean and the garden quite large which suited us with a couple of dogs in tow.
