Large stone manor with 8BR and 7BA, extended grounds, large fully-equipped pool.
Villa Fontocchio is situated at the foot of the Etruscan town of Cortona, in an enchanting location among vineyards and olive trees. Thanks to the careful restoration works, the charm of this typical Tuscan farmhouse, with its wooden beams and terracotta floors, has been preserved. A big gate leads into a spacious living room. Here, in the heart of the house, the wooden beams, the original fireplace, the typical Tuscan furnishings, the elegant curtains and the ancient printings create a harmonious whole. The cosy kitchen, dominated by a big Tuscan table, provides any comfort. In the middle of it lies a large brick fireplace, where poor farmers used to warm up their meal. The eight bedrooms are carefully furnished according to different refined styles and are characterized by precious curtains, baldachin and wrought iron beds. Five double bedrooms have ensuite bathroom with shower or tub, while the other 2 double bedrooms and the single share two spacious bathrooms with shower. Two extra beds can be added upon request. The wide surrounding garden hosts a large swimming pool that can be used exclusively by the Villa's guests and is fully furnished. Here you will enjoy peace and relaxation as well as a stunning view of the beautiful city of Cortona. Here you will have the chance to relax among the characteristic colours and smells of the Tuscan countryside.
Property was as described. It lacked screens in the first floor windows to keep lizards out and English directions for clothes washer, dishwasher and stove.
We had a fabulous week - we were 9 adults. Location was great - 5 minute drive up the hill to Cortona and 5 minute drive to grocery store and train station in Camucia. The property is spacious the garden is great. Note that 3 bedrooms are in an attached annex and 5 bedrooms in the main house. We had lovely dinners in the kitchen dining room every night. The kitchen is wells stocked with 2 big fridges and everything you need. And the hosts organized a chef for a celebratory night which was amazing. It was early season and we used the pool two days. Communication was good and prompt. There were some extra fees which we were not aware of when we booked for cleaning and electric- just good to know. The furnishings in the living room are getting tired and are not the comfiest but if you are coming in summer youâll likely be outside more than we were! Also note that the only places to sit outside are either at the dining style table or at the pool. We had a great stay overall and the location is central to many of the towns to explore in Tuscany and easily accessible to Florence by train or car. I would definitely recommend this beautiful property.
We were a family group of 15 ranging in age from 20 to 92. We used the pool every day. Laughed at the clothes dryer because they have the same kind in Portugal where we vacationed. Many people walked into Camucia and enjoyed the restaurants grocery stores etc. Several of us have been to Italy before my first time in Assisi but we shared experiences with them. Staff was prompt to arespond to any problems. And a week of perfect weather makes it all the better
Our stay at this property was excellent. There was plenty of indoor and outdoor space for our whole family. Staff very responsive. Booked a chef through them for a night and had plenty of leftovers. Would highly recommend a car as Cortona is only walkable uphill 3km along the road.
It was a wonderful experience for all of us. Very beautiful place and location. Some of the kitchen equipment would be appreciated if there is an upgrade on stove, BBQ and similar. We would love to be back next year.
Seit nun bald zwei Wochen...
