The house is beautiful and well maintained. It is a fun opportunity to imagine life in one of these beautiful old homes from the 19th century. A wonderful breakfast was served Saturday and Sunday. Simon was great. Friendly and full of tips and ideas to help make the most of our time in Dubuque. We stayed in Florence’s room, which had great views of the city, and the bed in the turret with curved windows all around. We would highly recommend staying here.
It was close to everything. We recommend the River Museum, the Riverwalk and Stonecliff winery, hiking at Mines of Spain and viewing eagles at Eagle Point. The murals were great, the Riverlight bookstore Sorpresa shop were interesting. Enjoyed good meals at Caroline’s, Dubuque Mining Company and the Copper Kettle. Loved the architecture in Dubuque.
I felt as though we were sleeping inside a museum filled with fine antiques. It was quite beautiful. Parking on the street was awkward to haul luggage up the steps. Inkeeper was sometimes hard to reach. Coffee and a few other items were gratis in the kitchen. Sure missed breakfast no longer being included.
The property was spectacular!! The history and architecture second to none. Our host Simon was gracious and informative. Highly recommend visiting this gem!!

The host, and our greeting, felt rushed and as though we were inconveniencing him. The home is beautiful although it smelled musty and the bed was uncomfortable. It offers a beautiful view of Dubuque.
Wonderful views of the city and river from the Doll Room. Very comfortable room full of old school charm. Breakfast was also excellent and Simon's history of Dubuque was an added bonus.
Dubuque was a surprise for us - walkable (with hills) and the restaurants, L May Eatery and Roses & Berries were a delight. The view from Hancock House is amazing and if you enjoy antiques, you’ll love the furnishings. Our room was upgraded for free but we had no shower and the windows didn't work well. The wallpaper needs to be repaired or replaced. The proprietor was absent after he received us but we were able to navigate by ourselves. Having privacy in the public spaces was nice.

The property was excellent, Expedia screwed up the vacation by sending me a confirmed booking without telling the Hancock owner. As a result we weren’t able to stay there !
This was a beautiful historic mansion. Room was very comfortable and clean. Breakfast was excellent and host was very responsive. Beautiful neighborhood overlooking downtown.
IT was located in a truly unique location. Beautifly restored rooms and the breakfast on Sunday morning was wonderful. Other guests were very pleasant.
The Hancock House is a beautiful Victorian mansion. It sits high above Dubuque and offers spectacular views of the city and the Mississippi River. Simon is a gracious host. He takes pride in the house and it shows. Each room is beautifully appointed. The gourmet breakfasts served on Saturday and Sunday are delicious. The Hancock House is by far the best B and B in Dubuque!

Charming B&B
Lots of character with a beautiful view over the city. Host is accommodating, breakfast delicious, beds and room comfortable and clean. A few updates on especially the exterior of the house would make it a fantastic experience (building noticeably deteriorating on the outside compared to homes surrounding it including banners). Otherwise a great choice for a unique experience!
The room we rented was comfortable. The place was clean. The host was friendly. The place needs a little upkeep on small items, nothing major. A couple of cracks on the walls and possibly a sagging on the bathroom floor which was likely causing the shower door to not stay closed and some water to stagnate on the wrong side(the shower itself was otherwise clean, modern and neat). But given the age of the house it was good.
The experince was good overall.
Parking was a little confusing, especially since on-street parking looked full when we arrived. Some additional instruction on parking would've helped.
Host was helpful and with the local area.
What a charming discovery! A beautiful old home on the top of a hill with a gorgeous view of the city. Gorgeously decorated and appointed with attention to detail. We are enchanted!
