Small improvements for massive improvements

When I went to go and speak to the person to check in, she was abrupt and rude. Whilst I was slightly early, I was told incorrect information and sent on my way. The next day when checking out I checked the information again and was advised I was told incorrect information. As soon as I went into my room after checking in, there was a man in my bathroom. He didn’t tell me why he was in there and then he left my room after smiling at me. I think he was employed because I saw him later in the building, but just felt a little bit strange. I couldn’t get the complimentary coffee machine to work and the fan in the bathroom was on all night which made for a very uncomfortable night sleep however given the reception I had I didn’t want to speak to the team overnight. I stayed there for an exam to try and make things a little less stressful, but that probably didn’t work as well as I wanted it to given the reception received.

The location is good, but the housekeeping was poor. On one day, they left glasses dirty and didn’t change them. Another day, they didn’t empty the bin, and on another day, the bathroom wasn’t cleaned at all. It feels like they just made the bed in a rush, not even properly.

The carpet was dirty, obviously it hadn’t been vacuumed for many days/weeks, I had to do floor exercises for my back and it was disgusting, lots of fluff and dirt. Bathroom had a hair in the sink, curtains did not meet properly and let in light. The room was at the front with a busy road so it was noisy. Room was sparse and unwelcoming.

Great base for exploring Edinburgh

Very nicely appointed hotel, great location opposite parkland and in the chic Bruntsfield area. Hotel itself has generous size rooms with comfortable beds and staff were friendly and helpful.

What a wonderful hotel. It looks better in real life than in the photos. Our room was large, bright with a huge and really comfortable bed. Great pillows and bed linen too. The breakfast is amazing. A true feast and lots of veggie options too. Don't miss out on breakfast. I love a Tunnock's Tea Cake and it's a lovely touch to have these in Reception and the rooms. Location is great and easily walkable to so many places with good retail on the street and it looks over a lovely park. I highly recommend this hotel and would definitely stay here again.
