SCAM ARTISTS. I made a reservation at to OYO St.Andrews for March 10-March 12. I made it several weeks in advance. The afternoon of March 10–thirty minutes before check in time—I was informed that my reservation could not be honored due to “renovations.” I was told that my reservation had been moved to the OYO Arden Guest House which is 4 miles away. I had no interest in this arrangement as it was not the location I wanted and I did not have a vehicle. I asked for a refund. They said they could not give me one because I made the reservation through Expedia. I contacted Expedia who contacted them to confirm my reservation was not honored. They are now refusing to issue a refund through Expedia because I did not “use” my reservation. This is in spite of the fact that I provided them with both a text message confirming my reservation had been moved to a different location and a voice mail they left me confirming my reservation had been moved. Disgusting. The dishonesty is astounding. I paid for a service. It was not provided. Now they will not release my money for refund. This is a dishonest, incompetent establishment. Don’t give them your money unless you want to stay at a completely different location without the ability to get a refund.

Clean and cheap

Basic hotel room with shared bathroom facilities which were clean except the wet room bathroom a bit smelly. Good value as a budget hotel with self service breakfast included.

Stay at the OYO St Andrews Hotel

The hotel itself was nice, but on arrival our check in was very rushed and we actually weren’t given a room key until my partner asked. No en-suite bathroom but considering the price of the room and the fact there are only 14 bedrooms in the hotel, it wasn’t so bad sharing a bathroom and they were very clean and modern. The bin hadn’t been emptied on arrival and bedsheets were a bit dirty but overall the room was comfortable. When checking out, there was no one at reception and we were a bit nervous about leaving our keys, but we managed to hide them so no one else could find them (but hopefully the receptionist could!) Overall, I’d give it a 6/10 and to be honest for the great price and walking distance from the Edinburgh and the centre of Leith, it was worth it! Probably would stay again if we didn’t get a better deal elsewhere.

The bedrooms were comfortable, and bedding was clean. The manager was helpful, I was early checking in, so the manager took me along to the kitchen, where I made coffee and waited ten minutes until the room was ready. The breakfast was excellent. The hotel was situated in a central position, though not a part of town I would like to walk about late at night. The only criticism is the walls were very thin, and you could hear every word people were saying.

Overall, very good. Bath/shower needs improval - too small and showers H-C hard to operate.
