Approx. 60 miles south of Nashville, there is a quiet and mostly unknown Amish community. You will feel as though you have stepped back in time. There is no electricity use, farms are tended by horse and plow, and clothes can be seen hanging on lines to dry.

Most families have handmade signs at the end of their driveway indicating what goods they sell to the public. Don't be shy, simply go to the door and kindly ask about their wares. The furniture makers have the most beautiful and sturdy pieces you will ever see.

Be cautious of the horse and buggies traveling the highways with you.

Do not take pictures of the Amish. They are very serious with the belief that a photograph is considered a graven image and it is against their religious belief.

Plan for at least half a day. The roads are confusing and you will enjoy chatting with the families regarding their wares. The women are quite shy but will answer your questions!
