check in was awesome, even though we arrived later than originally expected. Room was great, beds comfortable. My only concern has been that when I booked I didn't pick up the fact that our room did not have an ensuiite bathroom.
Took single room for the night prior to taking part in the Great West Run. Compact and basic but everything one needed, with some very nice extra touches such as real coffee and a tiny cafetiere in the room. The tiles in the bathroom are beautiful.
Very nice staff/owners.
Really helpful
Room and bathroom very clean, nicely prepared and presented.

Mystery Guide Visit
Great location near St David's Station (travelled on train) and adjacent to City Centre. Got upgraded to a double bed. Breakfast was lovely but was very busy and a bit chaotic but overall my stay was very good value. Also, I left some clothes behind and the team were very helpful in reuniting it with me.
On Hotels.com site, I entered three preferences (private rest room, free parking, twin beds) and only one was applied to the room we received (twin beds). No air conditioning and no windows in the room. Broken fan (I had to fix it. Misleadingly named a "hotel" when it is an "English Inn" (converted home). Not clear whether breakfast was included. No hand towels or face towels. Room had odors.
Stayed in a single room with shared bathroom for one night. The bathrooms were never occupied which was good. Facilities were good and clean, staff were friendly and the breakfast was great! Good price too and so close to the station made it convenient. I would stay again :).

Beautiful room with amazing outside sitting area and view. Close to train station and downtown. Breakfast was top notch.
The Telstar is a lovely old time bed and breakfast using a converted house (i think). It is relatively close to Exeter St David's train station, and very close to Exeter University.
The rate includes breakfast and free parking, which is a big nus. I had the single room with a small shower and toilet. No complaints. The staff are all very helpful.
Be warned that there are no lifts in the hotel and the stairway is quite narrow. So those with huge luggage will have some difficulty getting up to the upper floor. Also, from the train station, the Telstar is on a hill.
Given the room rate and everything, i am happy to recommend the Telstar. My thanks to Sam and Amy for making the stay a very enjoyable one.
