The Dean is just fine - it’s well situated so those who enjoy a stroll can do so into the Galway city center with ease. The car park is about 1/3 mile away at a public car park but the price is just 12 euros a night and our car was safe and undisturbed. The hotel is trying to be very cool, but it does so at the risk of some common sense - we would have have used one shelf, or a wardrobe, or even more than three hangers on a rail in the room. All this would have been fine if it weren’t for the fact that this was by far the most expensive place we stayed on our 14 day trip through Ireland - it was a splurge and we stayed at some really nice spots where we got a bit more for our money.

This would have been a slam dunk 5* review, but after forgetting something in our room on check out 'Baseball Hat'- we tried to contact the hotel but Emails sent into a black hole, no one got back to us and it was extremely disappointing. I wish the service was better because the rest of the place was exceptional.

Amazing

I loved the hotel, exactly as described . It was spotless, clever signage . All the staff were outstanding. Pool an gym set up were great. The rooftop restaurant was top notch. I slept so well there. Great mirror shower. Ask for extra coathanger s, as lack of storage was a thing. Treat yourself an stay there.
Terrific signage.

One of the nicer places to stay in Galway. New hotel. New pub in the hotel to look like an old Irish pub. Staff was nice. Room was very nice. 10 minute walk to the main shopping areas. O’Connells pub is like a 6-7 minute walk. Very clean and felt safe.

No closets, rooms are cramped cause there is no where to put luggage. We had 3 rooms and both my son’s girlfriends had expensive make up and face wash products missing from their room. The door you have to pull it shut cause one of the doors was left open after housekeeping. The staff was quick to credit for missing items however, only after we left my other son ‘s girlfriend mentioned some expensive make up (foundation and 2 lipstick, plus hair pins) were gone. Since I’ve experienced these problems before I tend to lock my luggage every single day so I didn’t have anything missing. Other than that location is great, amenities like pool, sauna, steam room, gym are all great. The rooftop floor has a fabulous view and we spent a lot of time on both the upper and lower bar for cocktails Staff is very friendly however the biggest problem is of course items missing and cramped quarters for luggage

Rooms are very small, but functional. Location close to town, handy. No car parking on site, & would be an uphill walk with bags from the designated pay car park, but we only had overnight bag, no issue - & it wasn’t raining! €12 for hotel discount parking. Didn’t eat in hotel, bar was nice.

lively decor, good location and great staff. wish we had a chance to use the pool but the bar and coffee shop were lovely. rooms are a little snug if you’ve got a lot of luggage and some towels were a bit beaten/threadbare, those were the only small drawbacks. would stay again!

Stylish, Central, and Comfortable — but Skip Breakfast I recently stayed at The Dean Galway and overall had a very good experience. The hotel feels modern and stylish, with a fresh design that doesn’t rely on the usual “old building equals charm” approach. It genuinely feels like a new, well-maintained property. The rooms are compact—comparable to what you’d find in New York—but well designed and comfortable. That said, noise can be an issue. I’m not sure if it’s due to thin walls or room proximity, but I definitely heard more from neighboring rooms than I would’ve liked. The biggest letdown was breakfast. On both mornings, service was extremely slow—30 minutes just to get a coffee. The menu is short (maybe 5–6 items), so it was frustrating to wait that long. I understand morning rushes can be busy, but the delay seemed excessive. On a more positive note, the evening bar service was great—fast, friendly, and well run. So clearly, the hotel staff knows how to handle crowds—just not in the morning. Bottom line: The Dean is a great pick for travelers looking for a well-designed, modern stay in a central location. Just consider grabbing your morning coffee elsewhere.

Great location for visiting Galway. Parking was a bit of a nuisance but guess that may be typical for most city centre hotels. Roof top restaurant was very good and convenient on a rainy and windy evening.

I stayed before a few times and the place has gone down hill. Rooms were not cleaned for our two nights stay- we were 3 pals there for golf weekend. No robes in the room. Car park no longer available, and the breakfast took an eternity to get served- like 40 mins. Wont be back
