This holiday cottage makes an ideal base for exploring Loch Ness, Urquhart Castle, the scenic west coast and Inverness.. All on the Ground Floor:

Private parking for 2 cars. No smoking.. This delightful detached holiday cottage (pronounced ‘Thistle Doo’) enjoys a peaceful setting in the picturesque village of Drumnadrochit close to the shores of Loch Ness. The cottage makes an ideal base for exploring Loch Ness, Urquhart Castle, the scenic west coast and Inverness, the Highland capital. Super area for mountain biking, forest walks, climbing, and boat trips – also with an abundance of wildlife a wonderful area for the nature lover. Near to the Great Glen Way, Glen Affric and Glen Urquhart there is plenty to do, or simply relax and take in the atmosphere and enjoy the Highland hospitality. Shop, pub, restaurant and takeaway ¼ mile.

Please note that although the property is on one level, with widened doors, there are threshers within the doorways.

A Wee Gem

A lovely little property, ideal for 2, and in such an ideal location to discover the Highlands. Margaret and Brian are on hand if required but have honestly thought of everything you could need. Highly recommend!

Thistle Deubh

Excellent property in guite surroundings, providing easy acess to local super market, excellent pub and other eating facilities if required. The position of the property provides easy access to surrounding visitor attractions and scope for those who enjoy walking and hiking. A special walk though woodland and along river allows access to the shore of Loch Ness within 40 minutes. The oweners of the property have given a lot of thought and attention to provide a well equiped and comfortable property for a holiday stay.

This was our third visit to Thistle Dubh and once again it was a great success.

This was our third visit to Thistle Dubh and once again it was a great success. Our hosts are welcoming and helpful. The accommodation is well equipped with great attention to detail infact everything you could want is provided including a copy of the local TV listings. The cottage is very clean and warm and absolutely perfect even for my husband who is confined to a wheel chair. There are many interesting and beautiful places and the arrival of a new supermarket about a ten minute walk away makes self catering a pleasure, although there is an excellent pub close by if you don't wat to cook. We enjoyed ourselves so much that we are already planning to return next year.

We had a safe parking place for motorbike and plenty of room to store our gear . Had everything you need cooking etc. Would definitely recommend and go bk again . Thank you Margaret and Brian x

A beautiful holiday home in a stunning location

We had a lovely weeks stay in this well presented delightful holiday home. It is perfect for 2 and ideal if you are looking for some peace and quiet. It’s only a short walk into the village. Here you will find good local amenities and attractions. The owners have really made it a home from home. It was a lovely place to stay.

We were delighted with our stay at Thistle Dubh, which is situated just a few minutes by car from the centre of Drumnadrochit and The Loch Ness Visitor centre, and 5 minutes from Urquhart Castle. First impressions were that it was a very clean and extremely well thought out holiday home.....in fact it almost was a home from home. Everything that you could possibly want when staying away from home was provided here.....apart from a dishwasher! There was a lovely big wet room and the fairly large bedroom opened out onto a little decked garden....which we didn’t use due to the weather! We have never stayed in a place which had 2 single beds, but could see that a double bed wouldn’t have fitted in. Milk, tea, coffee and a welcome basket were all provided and there were also dvds, cds, books, and games. So much more was offered, but you’ll have to stay here to find out for yourselves! We would definitely recommend it.
