The property was nice except for the mattresses. You could feel every spring in the mattress. They did say that they were getting new mattresses in the Spring.

Every time my Family visit Sequoia NP we stay at Wukashi and we always love it. Decided to try John Muir because they have better food choices. I am so dissatisfied with almost everything. It is beautiful area but that’s all. First I booked room for 5 adult people at Expedia. Upon which at arrival I was told exactly that: “we only have rooms with two queen beds, you can select option for 5 people which only means we will charge you extra for 5th person but it is up to you how you will fit the 5th person into the bed.” Wow… seriously?! I have never seen anything like that. In Wukashi 5 person room means two beds plus extra sofa or sleeper couch. In other hotels it means there is 3rd bed. I am shocked. We had to sleep 3 in one bed, my Mom, my Husband and I in a Queen bed… lol not fun, all of us didn’t sleep. Good it was only one night.
Also even though room was for 5 people we got - 3 towels, 2 cups. Huh? We should share the cups and towels too? And room was extremely old and nasty, dirty walls, mold in bathroom, unpleasant carpet, ripped chairs and mattress underneath the sheets. Shocked how bad this place was, truly!

Nice small property. Thought it would be a more full resort. No dining, just a nice small hotel experience. No breakfast or anything special.

A reasonably priced basic lodge to sleep comfortably and quietly in the middle of a beautiful national park. Easy walk to Grants Grove Village with a market, gift shop and restaurant. Restaurant is not full service during non-peak months, but you can get coffee and inexpensive snacks in the lodge 24 hours. Nice outdoor areas with rocking chairs.

Location great but limited services
Posted Sep. 19, 2023 on HotelsCan't beat the location for Kings Canyon and northern sites of Sequoia. I would have expected more services for the price, like tea, decaf coffee and fruit in the lobby, food options nearby, and recycling bins that aren't too full to use. Beds were comfortable.
