“The Makahuena” is located on the southernmost point of Kauai. This unique oceanside resort is situated on the edge of a bluff providing spectacular coastal views. This is a multi-level condo on the second story of the building, walking up stairs is required. Enter into the open living room with AC and full kitchen, guest half bath and indoor laundry for your convenience.

Upstairs, there are two bedrooms with AC, queen size beds and ensuite full bathrooms, one with a beautiful tile shower/tub combo and one with a standing shower. ***Construction Notice: There is active construction occurring on the neighboring property, and may cause noise or partial obstruction to the existing island and ocean views. Rental rates have already been adjusted to reflect a competitive rate. This notice will be removed upon completion of construction.***

The host was helpful. And the condo was well stocked with necessary items. The condo was about a "C" rating - it is beginning to show its age and the whole unit needs to be refreshed - especially the woodwork. The shower curtain on the half-bath/laundry room in lieu of a broken pocket door was a non-starter for me. The sheets, while clean and serviceable are getting pretty thin.

Large Beautiful Condo

This beautiful condo has a beautiful easterly view of the Pacific. It was wonderful to sit on the balcony with a cocktail and watch the ocean. The complex has a wonderful view and a popular place with benches to watch the sunset. It is conveniently located to all activities on the southern shore and about an hours drive to Waimea Canyon. Breathtaking!

Week in Poipu

The condos are in a good location. It is close to Poipu beach and the cities of Poipu and Koala. Access to the Maha’ulepu Heritage Trail. Good access to a sunset and sunrise. Sunrise can be viewed from patio, though homes are being built on the adjacent land that blocks view of the ocean. Grocery shopping should be done Lihue as most markets around have less options and higher cost. Parking is good and convenient. No elevators to get to upper units with luggage.

Disappointing view and uncomfortable

The owners of this condo need to spend a little money to upgrade if they are going to charge 500 per night. The so-called living room furniture was outdoor furniture that was extremely uncomfortable even my outdoor furniture at home is more comfortable and who wants to lay on a board to relax and watch some tv before bed? Also, the view is not like the picture since they are now doing construction outside the deck. The lock box is so rusty it barely works - took us forever to put the key back. This could be a nice condo if you improve the furniture and replace the lock box with a new one.

Great place with great view

Clean, well-stocked unit. No issues with check-in. Pool and pool area was clean, not crowded. Beds were comfortable. Nice size TV with lots of options. Would stay here again.

Quiet, clean and close to beaches and restaurants. Good supply of spices and basic kitchen supplies. Stairwell light is funky because there are 3 switches for it. Would have been nice to know what streaming apps were included and how to access xable.

This was a great condo with beautiful views. The area is being developed, so it's not clear how long the views will be nice, but the property is great and while a bit aged (older appliances) the beds were comfortable and the shower was very nice. It's not easy to find a reasonably priced property in Poipu, and this property fits the bill!

Great Spot!

This was a very nice condo and a perfect area. We were minutes away from our dinners at the Grand Hyatt and minutes away from our favorite beaches, including Poipu. It was a nice and clean spot, and we would definitely stay here again. The construction didn’t bother us, but we usually spent all day at the beach and the workers were gone by the time we would get back from dinner. Easy check in and we were happy.

Great Location, Great stay!

The condo is perfect for four people, whether all adults or with 2 kids that can share a bed. It is very well appointed. The owner really went out of their way to give you everything you need to have a great stay, including beach chairs, towels, boogies boards, coolers, and snorkeling equipment! The full size washer and dryer are an added plus! From the balcony you can absolutely see the ocean as well as from the master bedroom. **One thing to note that wasn’t a problem for us, but could be for others, the unit is on the third floor and there is no elevator. I can absolutely recommend and wish we could stay longer!

Property just as described. Lovely treats when we arrived. Great view although they are building in front of unit. We never had any issues with noise. Very quite complex. No parking issues. Very clean unit with beach floaties, toys for kids, games, and snorkel equipment. Super close to Shipwreck beach and Poipu beach.

Positives: 1. The rental process was organized and seamless. 2. Good communication from the property managers. 3. Older unit but well maintained and clean. Very spacious. 4. Great location in Poipu. The only complaint I have is the "oceanfront view" is now mostly a construction view. Would not get this property for the view, but otherwise, was a great rental. Thanks for hosting us!

Great Location and Views

This is an older condo that has been well-maintained and has most everything you'll need for your stay - towels, beach chairs, snorkels, kitchen utensils and supplies. Only thing missing was a coffee grinder. The condo is located next to a beach trail that takes you in front of the Grand Hyatt and connects to the Mahalepu Beach Trail, which we walked almost daily. These are truly stunning beach cliffs. It's also walking distance to Brenneke's Beach and Brenneke's Restaurant with open windows looking out over the ocean. This was our first stay on the South shore and we truly enjoyed it. There are also many other good restaurants in the area. We were saddened that after we booked, they started building multi-million $ luxury homes on the land in front of our row of condos. There will still be an ocean view, just not as pristine and uncluttered as before. Occasionally the workers used heavy equipment at 7am, but most days this was not an issue. Overall, this was a great place to stay and the location provides good access to many of the places you'll want to go.

Beautiful and Great Location

This property was such a great find. We will definitely be back. Location was up the hill from the beaches but great view of the ocean and extremely quiet. Definitely walkable to the beach with great access to some amazing hikes. We saw several whales, dolphins and turtles from the balcony. Very comfortable. Thank you for sharing your home.

Loved having space for all of us. The AC was much appreciated after a long day of sightseeing and the beach. Plenty of dish soap, laundry detergent, and even bathroom supplies. And the sunrise mornings were exactly what we needed. Thank you!

Great Condo

We stayed Dec 2023 for 5 nights and it was very nice. Clean, full kitchen, 3 bathrooms for 4 adults was a plus as was the washer and dryer. We didn’t have great weather to enjoy the balcony but liked having it just the same. Would definitely recommend and stay again.

Enjoyable stay in Poipu area

The place was clean, cozy, and well stocked with all kinds of supplies from Kitchen to outdoor activities. The down side was the view from the Lanai. There was construction going on, but we were warned in advance and given an option to change and we didn't so it's on us. The pool had no shaded area and the hot tub was out of commission. The walking path along the coast had such beautiful views. It was a good stay.

Amazing off-hotel meeting stay

Wonderful upgraded and appointed multi-level condo! Entrance up a flight of stairs, and all bedrooms upstairs as well. Nice full kitchen. Ocean and cliff views. Nearby construction does not obstruct views. Next to great trail... catch the sunrise over the ocean and crashing waves! 15-minute walk from Grand Hyatt and Shipwreck Beach either by trail or sidewalks and paths.
