With breathtaking lake views from nearly every room, a private dock, three wrap-around decks, and an incredible entertainment space, this is the ultimate destination for family vacations, group getaways, and everything in between.

The Outdoors

Step outside and you're immediately at the water's edge. The private dock is your launchpad for everything lake life has to offer — fish off the end, soak up the sun on the dedicated sunning area, or launch the included tubes for a day on the water. Three wrap-around decks give you front-row seats to some of the most spectacular sunsets on Lake Hartwell, with outdoor dining and seating for the whole group. Fire up the grill and make a night of it — there's plenty of space to spread out and enjoy the fresh lake air.

The Entertainment Space

Inside, the game room and bar are the heart of the home. We're talking a regulation-size pool table, full shuffleboard table, bar with pub seating, flat screen TV, and a cozy fireplace — everything you need for a night in that rivals a night out. Cornhole is available for when you want to take the competition outside.

The Kitchen

Feeding a full house is no problem here. The kitchen is fully equipped for large groups with a full-size refrigerator, double oven, gas range, dishwasher, microwave, drip coffee maker, Keurig, and french press with grinder — so whether you're cooking a big family breakfast or prepping dinner for twelve, you have everything you need.

The Bedrooms

Rest easy in one of four king bedrooms, each with its own private bathroom, plush bedding, ample closet space, and a flat-screen smart TV. A fifth bedroom with two bunk beds is perfect for kids or younger guests. All five bedrooms have WiFi-enabled TVs so everyone can unwind at their own pace.

Love the house it’s a perfect size for 8-15 people honestly. The living space is massive and great for entertainment. The beds are all super comfortable and good sized. Only complaints were there were a few light bulbs out (the porch, the pool table) and the leak with the tub in the master bathroom. But other than that the space is amazing, and dock and space to hang out by the lake is awesome. And the house itself is super fun and has so much to offer.

This lake house was amazing! The layout of the house makes it great for large family gatherings. The view of the lake from the deck of all three levels is breathtaking! We definitely plan on returning! The host was very quick to answer any questions we had! We had a great experience!

Great location and property - central to a wedding we attended at a state park. House was not clean and needs significant repair work before being rented again. Mold and mildew issues throughout this property, especially downstairs. If you are immune compromised, don’t stay here. TLC will do this property justice.

Great getaway

We wanted a big house to get away for NY weekend to relax, eat, watch football, and spend time. The home was perfect. Plenty of room to spread out and the views off the back are awesome from every level. It was very well equipped and we had everything we need. Amazing location.

We stayed for the weekend and really enjoyed our stay. It was great to have so many king beds for us all to have our own rooms and the location on the lake is amazing. So peaceful. We spent most of our time down at the dock swimming and had a boat for the weekend. Our only concern was the house was no very clean when we stayed. One of the beds was covered with dead flies and also in the bathroom. Other than that it was a great stay.

This booking saved our wedding!

Was super impressed to find this available only two weeks out from our wedding after the cabin we had booked 10 months before cancelled on us! Anthony was quick to respond when we had one small issue, and corrected it immediately. House was clean and easy to find, but heads up, no super close stores! We enjoyed dinner at J Peters and Southern Hart Brewery! 10/10 would stay again!

Spacious home

This home is absolutely beautiful. The kitchen has everything you need to cook with. We rented it in hopes to get all my family together that live in the area as we live in a different state. We we're able to make that happen and had so much room which made for a very nice visit with everyone. We have saved this property and hope to stay here next year and every year after! Would love to stay during the summer and use the dock and play in the lake. Any questions or problems we had were answered and resolved very promptly!

Fantastic property!

We loved this house! We’re a group of four families who vacation together every summer and this house was perfect for us! Easy access to the lake and a game room downstairs helped keep our teens engaged (and off their devices!). There were a few issues that came up during our stay but Anthony was very quick to respond each time. The house is rural enough that we were away from noise and light pollution, but close enough to a few towns to go shopping when we needed to. And the deer! I definitely recommend Southern Gem for large family or friend groups!

Very nice place

We stayed here as a group of four couples while visiting family in Hartwell. This house was perfect for us. It is big enough that everyone can find a place to be alone and also be together without being crowded. The beds were super comfortable. The private bathroom for each bedroom was very nice. The location is private and was very quiet. The decks are great to sit on and enjoy the view of the lake. The downstairs area has a pool table and table top shuffleboard that were lots of fun. There were two sets of laundry machines that made it easy for everyone to be able to conveniently do laundry. I definitely recommend it and would stay again!

Great location

Large space. Love the shuffle board and pool table. Fishing on the dock was fun. House has lots of potential if it was upgraded. Fridge was not working properly (new fridge did not arrive). Shower in Master was out of order ( was scheduled to be fixed the week after we arrived). Housekeeper could have cleaned a lot more than she did.

Perfect relaxing vacation

This was probably our most favorite vacation ever. We went for the sole purpose of using our pontoon boat and enjoying the lake for a week. This is exactly what we did! The location of the house was great. The lot and property were gorgeous with deer, squirrels, lizards, and just so quiet and peaceful. We set up chairs on the dock and a hammock in the trees and truly relaxed and enjoyed ourselves. This house was definitely the most equipped of any rental we’ve ever stayed in. It has absolutely everything you need in the kitchen and throughout the house. It was also very spacious with plenty of room for everyone. We had 4 teenagers with us and they enjoyed the bunk beds and also the game room downstairs. We hope to be back next summer for sure!!

Great rental property for a group

We had three couples (seniors) here for a week. The house is large and really secluded. Sitting on any of the three levels of deck you hear only birds (and owls!) and see only trees - no neighbors. We saw deer on the property every day. The dock is in a cove set back from the main channel, and is very calm. Unfortunately, the lake water level was down about four feet, so we didn’t do any swimming at the dock, but we did find a nice state park with a small beach. We were able to rent a pontoon at the local marina and really enjoyed the lake. The house was very clean and the kitchen is great. Very well outfitted with every pan and gadget you’d need. Loved the huge induction cooktop. The mattresses are really comfortable, and with en-suite king bedrooms on each floor we had a lot of privacy. The pool table was a fun feature! The back decks face East, so sunrises over the lake were beautiful. But be mindful that the top level master has no window treatments, so if you’re not a morning person you should bring a sleep mask! The owner is very responsive to any questions, and was able to accommodate our request for early access. I would definitely recommend this place.

Fantastic Fun Stay

My husband, our two daughters and their families had the pleasure of spending three unforgettable nights at this remarkable home, and honestly, we wished we could stay for a year or two. The beauty and comfort here are truly exceptional making it the perfect getaway. From the moment we stepped inside and took in the breathtaking view of the lake, we felt an overwhelming sense of peace that lasted throughout our entire visit. The house is immaculate, featuring comfortable beds and reliable Wi-Fi. Even though there are a few homes nearby, the property feels stunningly secluded. The kitchen is exceptionally well-stocked with every tool and amenity needed to whip up meals effortlessly. We loved spending our evenings gathered around the spacious dining table, engaging in games and laughter.One of the standout features of this house is its minimal clutter; it's refreshing not to have to worry about fragile items with small children (and some adults) around. This thoughtful design made our stay even more enjoyable.Anthony was incredibly communicative, responding to our questions with impressive speed. The house exceeded all our expectations, and I must admit, part of me wants to keep this hidden gem a secret for fear it might become too popular to book in the future.I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to the owner for sharing this beautiful retreat with others. May God bless them as much as they have blessed us. We're already planning our eagerly anticipated return.
