Summary:
Little Fawn is a cozy cabin nestled in the woods just steps from the Shenandoah River, with everything you need for your getaway.
The highlights:
- Enjoy our outdoor hot tub!
- Grill and relax on the huge deck
- Walk 15 minutes down to the river (with canoe/kayak/tubing rentals right there!)
- Cozy up inside beside the wood-burning stove
- Drive 20 minutes for outdoor adventures in Shenandoah National Park, Skyline Drive, and Luray Caverns
Enjoy!
The Space:
Our cute, newly-renovated cabin is packed with amenities and fun for couples, families or small groups of friends.
The cabin includes:
- Two bedrooms (each with a queen bed)
- A huge wrap-around deck with a propane grill
- Outdoor hot tub perfect for relaxing after a day hiking or on the river
- Open concept living room with wood-burning stove (although we have AC and heat, so no need to worry about the stove if you donât want to!)
- Smart TV with access to all your favorite streaming services
- WiFi that's normally fast enough to stream movies and hold video calls, however could be spotty at times due to local reception
- Fully-stocked kitchen with a stove/oven, microwave, and everything you need for cooking or grilling
Please Note:
There are a couple of floorboards that are slightly raised or rounded due to shifted joists. The floor is structurally sound, and we feel it adds to the rustic charm of the cabin, but we wanted to bring this to your attention.
Our cleaning team sweeps the deck, stairs, and walkways before each arrival, but because of the natural mountain setting, you may still notice leaves, pollen, or other outdoor elementsâespecially during certain seasons. Nature has a way of leaving its mark, no matter how often we tidy up, and we appreciate your understanding.
Wi-Fi is provided, though service can occasionally be slower or spotty due to the remote mountain location. We recommend downloading any essential content in advance so you can fully relax and enjoy your stay.
Please be advised that youâve rented a mountain property. AWD or 4x4 is recommended. The main and secondary roads are typically paved, but many side roads are gravel or hard-packed dirt. You may encounter potholes, ruts, steep inclines, and rough terrain. Most front-wheel drive vehicles have no trouble accessing the property when driven slowly and carefully, but low-profile vehicles such as sports cars or motorcycles are not recommended. During inclement weather (snow or ice), 4-wheel drive or tire chains may be required. We also recommend purchasing travel insurance if visiting during the winter months, as we do not issue refunds for road conditions that are beyond our control.
We often take our three little kids and dog to the cabin with us, so we're very family- and dog-friendly. Unfortunately we don't allow cats (we're allergic).
Thank you for understanding, and we hope you embrace the adventureâthis peaceful, scenic setting is exactly what makes Little Fawn such a special mountain escape!
Weâre a 15 minute (less than 1 mile) walk from the Shenandoah River -- where you can book a canoe, kayak or tubing trip with Shenandoah River Outfitters (theyâre right there and are fantastic!). And of course, weâre centrally located to all the other fun outdoor adventures in the area -- including Shenandoah National Park, Skyline Drive, and Luray Caverns.

An amazing house and an even better location. Tony was easy to communicate with and made the process very smooth. The hot tub was the perfect touch to enjoy in the cool evenings. Highly recommend.
Everything to make meals and the hot tub was def a highlight and in good shape. Close to Luray and you can see the skyline mountain top from most windows! The mountain landscape changed throughout the day and was beautiful to watch.
The house was fairly tired looking overall. The listing photos appear to be from several years ago, judging by the weathering. The hot tub was half-filled and had no power. The Wifi did not work the first two days of our stay. The furniture was stained, and there was a thick layer of grease and dust on every surface that, I assume, was not on a specific turnover check-list. The only decor is a few plastic plants, a "no smoking" sign and a (kind of cool?) tennis-racket abstract sculpture. Every vertical surface needs paint, and in some places, mold abatement. Stinkbugs (yes, stinkbugs) kept crawling in our bedroom window through the gap caused by the window-unit.The kitchen was surprisingly well-equipped. Underneath the stove's top (where all the spills collect) had clearly not been cleaned in many, many years.Taking out the garbage requires you to lift a 100lb steel dumpster lid up from 5ft to 6ft, then throw the trash up, over your head, and hope it makes it in before you drop the lid.So three stars -- It's the cheapest game in town and you get what you pay for. Still, Motel 6 is probably better bang for your buck.
The cabin had everything we needed and a few extras. The cabin was clean a cozy. The hot tub was a perfect way to end the evening before sitting on the porch star gazing. The only "negative" is the driveway. It was pretty rough...large bolders, holes, it could use some new gravel. A SUV is a must to get up the driveway. The beds were very comfortable. The location is great for outdoor lovers. Eventhough Shenandoah Outfitters is very close, I don't recommend walking to it.The walk back up very steep hills to the cabin is not easy. The PM, Tony, was great. He answered all my questions and stayed in contact. The picture is from Boat Landing #8 which is just a few minutes drive from the cabin.
Convenient for a weekend getaway. Walking distance to Shenandoah River Outfitters, which is great for tubing. An easy drive to Luray and numerous wineries, etc. Check-in was easy, and we were invited to check in about an hour early.
The Wifi is a T-Mobile Hotspot, which worked fine for working remotely but unfortunately does not support most streaming services like Netflix.
The beds were comfortable and the property was clean. The property in general could use a bit of maintenance and repair - lots of minor things like the one bedroom door does not latch, etc.
