Rustic River Cabin, Charming Riverfront, Hottub, 2 Stone Fireplaces, Dock, Views
ABSOLUTELY CHARMING! Rustic River Cabin is a Super Charming historic cabin built between 1910 and 1930. It features 2 beautiful stone wood burning fireplaces (wood supplied seasonally)! The cabin is just outside the town of Luray, Virginia on the Shenandoah River. It is centrally located to all activities such as Skyline Drive hiking, Luray Caverns, canoeing, horseback riding, vineyards in every direction and much more. It has a 100 year old fishing spot beside dock.
The living room is all glass with amazing views of George Washington National forest and the Beautiful Shenandoah River. This cabin is literally on the river with views, views, and views and is open and airy. It is beautifully decorated with antiques and gorgeous antique stained glass pieces throughout. It has the view and access to 4 or 5 different sets of small rapids on the river.
The steps leading down to the river make the river very accessible. The deck hottub area features a privacy fence with an old world gate that is divine and totally unique with âold worldâ hinges and door latches.
Rustic River is designed for âcouples onlyâ and is the perfect honeymoon getaway with fabulous views by day and star gazing from the hot tub at night. The hot tub in situated on a large 30X40 sq. ft. deck designed with a mature tree growing up through the middle which holds night lanterns. Super Romantic!!
NOTE: MINIMAL STAYS: It is a two night minimal stay with the exception of federal holidays which are a three night minimal stay.
The location was delightful. Beautiful Shenandoah River views. Cabin kitchen had some dirty dishes and the patio furniture was quite dirty. The biggest disappointment was the hot tub. It also was dirty, but it did not work well. Very strong jets from one corner only, another corner had very weak jets, and 2 corners had no working jets. The control buttons didn't function - no lights, only hot tub on & off. This poorly functioning hot tub was not mentioned in the advertisement.
It's the perfect spot for two. Three if you count the dog. We loved the cabin and the community it was located in. We will look to book this property (or another owned by this host) again.
The cabin is rustic as described and charming. It has a laid back historic vibe. Hot tub is great! River is calming to watch and hear. The best is Boots, insert heart melting . We are not much pet people but this cat is the sweetest. My husband must have something she Sat next to him outside everytime rubbed up against him, came when he called and rubbed her head on his hand. He hated leaving her, and wants to go back soon to see her. Overall we enjoyed the place and look forward to going back
The house is a rustic cabin and that would be fine -- not going to get a hotel setting, which is what we wanted.
Unfortunately the outdoor furniture had not been cleaned in a long time. The point in going here was to be outside and not to have to pre-clean all of it before we used it!
Inside was not any better. There are great sliding glass ceiling to floor windows that overlook the river but the last time they were cleaned may have been last year. Putting that aside, you could not open the sliding glass windows as there were no screens and "the house cat", would have gotten in, if opened - - strict orders, in writing, not to let that happen!! The screen door, on the only door into the cabin, is dilapidated and needs repair/replacement.
The interior of the house is dirty (we have pictures) window sills with dead flies, dirt, A/C unit has black mold on face, the "house mouse" should be somewhat expected in a wooded setting, but no rodent controls were visible. Kitchen came with only one large bowl and no soup bowls at all. The utensils that the 3 pages of directions (orders - - all directions can be much more visitor friendly and still get the same point across) state that they must be cleaned and put away, They were dirty in the draw and obviously just put away prior to our arrival. No hooks in bathroom for towels and very limited hanging space thru out the cabin (one 3 hook wooden bar with 2 smaller hooks below,), the shower has no light so you are dependent on whatever can filter your way, but don't let that bother you as the shower has minimal water pressure and isn't much more than a trickle.
Layout of the living room has 3 sofas all facing out to river but theTV in on a table behind furniture. Wifi did not connect and said that the system was not available.
Beyond this it had a great view of the river and mountains and we enjoyed seeing a storm come over the mountain one eveining. I would say "pass" on this one..
The information provided made the check in and out process very simple. The cabin was tidy and had a beautiful view of the river. There was plenty of hot water and the hot tub was immaculate. We can't wait to go back.
We have a amazing time. This is truly. A relaxing beaitiful. Place. If you stay here there only one thing. I would recommend. Is bringing a cooler with ice with you. Not sure what was up with the refreg. But was not working. The water in ice trays never froze during our stay . Besides that. I totally recommend this place. For a couple trip. We will diffentky be going back.
Although a part of a private group of homes, this cottage offers great privacy and seclusion. Located directly on the river, it has incredible views where you can watch ospreys and water fowl. Comfortable for two, with a private deck and hot tub. Local shops and stores within 10 minute drive, and lots of local activities.
Private central location, caught 10 Smallmouth bass on a floating minnow fishing from the lower deck in 2.5 hrs. over 3 days.
Enjoyed outdoor cat each day and his raccoon and bird friends.
Hot tub was amazing after local hikes in Shenandoah Park.
We throughly enjoyed our stay. You can float the shallow river or walk across it with watershoes.
Just know there is only a college size refrigerator with minimal kitchen supplies and one window air conditioner.
It was all good for us.
This cabin was perfect for a quiet Thanksgiving. The view was peaceful, the porch was big with a clean and well-functioning hot tub, the heat works well to keep the place warm, the bed is very comfortable, and the cabin is a short drive from lots of hiking and Luray Caverns. The set up of the cabin is strange in a charming sort of way â you can see the old bones of when the cottage was a pair of rooms in an old riverside resort. The fireplaces are in the bedroom and kitchen instead of the living room as a result so we didnât end up using them the way we had planned, but the wall of floor to ceiling windows overlooking the river more than makes up for it. The sleepy little resident cat (Boots) who hangs out outside the back windows was an endless source of entertainment, though she really just kind of sat there the whole time. One word of warning â as advertised, thereâs no WiFi. If youâre hoping to rely on cell service to access internet instead, donât. Thereâs not enough service to even send a text while youâre there, so take the listing at its word! All in all we had a wonderful and relaxing time and would highly recommend.
The view out the front room and decks is just beautiful. The river flows by gently and steadily, and all cares melt away.
I am glad we had a cooler full of ice, as the property has a motel size refrigerator.
It was what I was expecting and needed. Very relaxing. Communication with property manager was excellent. Very clean. Would definitely stay here again.
We loved it! It is perfect for a couple's quiet getaway. The river views from the living room are gorgeous. We enjoyed the large hot tub. The jets work very well. The sound of the river was soothing and the fishing was good.

Rustic Cabin
The location is great- very beautiful and peaceful. We loved being right on the river, and fishing right in front of the cabin. Loved the big windows looking over the river. Town of Luray was not far, and there's tons to do in the area. The cabin was charming; however, it's definitely rustic, as stated. Kitchen appliances were dated, and the lighting (at night) was poor. Repairs to deck stairs are needed. No cell or internet service.
