Very old beautiful hotel. Room was ready early. We had a clogged sink and someone came to fix it immediately after notifying staff. Valets were awesome! Bed was comfortable. $40/day valet parking was unexpected. Coming from a much smaller city, we weren't familiar with having having to use Uber or public transportation which was much better in terms of parking at places we were seeing. We were used to driving everywhere ourselves and Montreal is so much bigger and parking seems to be an issue. Live and learn! The hotel doesn't have an elevator so if someone has mobility issues, this could be an issue. Breakfast was the same everyday and less than adequate in our opinion. Canned fruit cocktail, croissants, bread, cheese, ham, not sure if it was yogurt or cottage cheese and granola. The orange juice was very watered down. The location is great! Within walking to many restaurants and shops.

Art, great breakfast with option for non dairy milk, internet fine, books and antiques a nice touch. Bed comfy. Close to arts and culture, campuses and dining/transportation. Steps caused one guest to fall. Noisy air conditioning should be switched out in older rooms. Wonderful stay in the main!!

Not only stairs to get to any room you book but there are stairs to the lobby. There is no bell service either. When booking it doesn't say you can’t avoid the stairs. We chose this hotel over another considering the free breakfast. It’s crap, so don’t bother. Boiled eggs, terrible bagged bagels, package croissants and canned fruit. Carpets in the room are stained and dirty, bathroom has mold. Cannot believe this place is expensive.

The air conditioner was central, therefore, i was unable to control the temperature of the room. It was warmer than expected, i had difficulty sleeping at night. We did not like the first room given to us in the third floor. The window of the room was looking at another wall and the room its already small. I felt a little bit claustrophobic. We got a new room in the fourth floor looking at the main street and it felt better. There is no elevator, we had to bring our things up. I am not sure this is a VIP experience. I was disappointed and I am in general an easy customer to please.

Our room was in the basement and we heard constant creaking from people walking around. Extremely annoying especially at 6am! Had I know it was like this i obviously would have booked elsewhere. Breakfast was mediocre and the fruit was stale everyday. The staff were friendly and helpful. The outside of the hotel looked great

Unfortunately, this hotel did not deliver. Although it looks pretty on the outside, inside it’s cramped, dark and stuffy. Our room was one floor above the reception, yet the windows were at eye level with the dark tunnel that ran beside it. The plumbing was so loud in the hotel that we got very little sleep because every time someone turned on their tap or flushed the toilet, it felt like a train was running through the room. The building is old and although there are some attempts made to make it look antique and whimsical, it needs major work to make it acceptable. $200+ a night is much too much money for a place you dread going back to at the end of a busy day. The only redeeming feature of the hotel was its proximity to many places of interest. The breakfast was basic and underwhelming.
