We loved absolutely everything about Oarsman's Bay Lodge-the beach, accommodation, surroundings, activities, food and especially the staff. We went to 2 other islands afterwards, and realised how spoilt we'd been at OBL. It was everything we'd dreamed of, and a lot more. Thank you to ALL the staff, who were like family. We had the holiday of a lifetime, and will definitely be back. This is the place for the true Fiji experience. Cannot give a higher review or recommendation. Thanks team OBL.

The staff were absolutely wonderful, they made had everything we needed and were very helpful. hey served 2 meals of fish per day, cooked in a different recipe for each meal. Sounds like a lot of fish but it was delicious. Very nice place for swimming and snorkelling. They have free use of paddle boards and kayaks which is a nice touch. Highly recommend it!

We came here for the last leg of our honeymoon and this was our first time in Fiji. The staff was wonderful - so sweet and accommodating and always willing to try to help us. The water temperature for the shower was very finicky, but the bathroom/shower outside was very cool. Our bure was very comfortable and we had a kitchen but it did not have any pots/pans plates/silverware. It was nice to have a refrigerator though. The water comes up pretty close to the bures which was really nice, and you're able to walk right out into the water for snorkeling. We used the facility next door for our scuba activities and diving. They accommodated me fairly well for being a vegetarian as they only offer one meal for lunch and dinner with fairly the same breakfast choices daily. Some more variety with their meals, and maybe some options for mid-day to eat would be a good idea as there are no other places nearby to eat and if the kitchen is closed you can't get any food besides chips at the bar. We did enjoy the community feel and our last night there was the Lovo dinner buffet and a Kava ceremony afterwards which was wonderful. Thank you Ben, Anna and Joe for all of your help during our stay - you guys were great. If you enjoy a small, community style, simple stay in Fiji, this place will fit you just fine.

Bula Julia. We are honoured that this was the last leg of your honeymoon. Thank you for choosing to stay with us and we are very happy to read you had a great Fijian experience for your first time! :) We are pleased you had the chance to experience the beautiful Nalova Bay right (literally a few footsteps away) by your bure. We are pleased you got to make the most out of our complimentary water equipment, including the snorkelling gear. Thank you for the feedback regarding the water temperature in the showers, and no equipment in the kitchen. We will pass this on to our team immediately. We offer a buffet breakfast, lunch meal, afternoon tea, and a three course dinner daily to our guests on a daily basis as a part of our meal plans. The food is usually cooked (caught and picked) fresh daily. Thank you for the feedback regarding the variety. We want our guests to have local authentic meals, which are seafood-inspired, but we understand that our guests come from all over and have different taste buds. We try and cater to all with what we can offer that is fresh, because we are also on a rural island. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us and we hope you will come back sometime soon! Vinaka Vakalevu, Dean and the Oarsman's team.

The situation of the property is second to none with the most beautiful scenery, staff are all very friendly and helpful with lots of activities to take part in. The only reason I havent given a higher score is purely based on the food which was all fish, I don't eat fish at all so I opted for the vegetarian option but I just felt that the $98 was expensive.

Bula! Vinaka for choosing to stay at Oarsman's Bay! We are happy to read you savoured the incredible scenery that is within and surrounds Nacula Island. Our staff will be very pleased to hear that you appreciated their hospitality. which comes natural to our Fijian culture and way of life. Thank you for the feedback regarding the ingredients we offer in our meals. We cook for our guests fresh, authentic and local cuisine, consisting of fish caught daily and fruits and vegetables grown from our very own gardens and farms. Because we are on a rural island, we want to give our guests the best we can offer, and due to this, we are limited with the variety of meats and other foods we can offer that are truly fresh. We will continue to work to ensure our guests enjoy the variety we can offer in our meals, and still keep them fresh. We hope to see you again very soon! Vinaka Vakalevu, Dean and the Oarsman's team.

The staff and location are fabulous! The actual Bures are terrible. We stayed in Bure 4 for 3 nights. The size and amenities of the bure were fine. However, the screens were filthy with bugs, there were spider webs on the bench in our room, our sheets had sand, and we could not escape ants and mosquitos - in or out of the room. The only relief was in the ocean. Additionally, the outdoor shower worked fine if scalding water, lukewarm and ice cold water in random rotation with minimal pressure are your idea or working fine. The food was fabulous! I happen to love fish but if you don't, I have no idea what you will eat. Lunch and Dinner is limited to the single option which is fish. Breakfast is pastries, fruit, hard boiled eggs, cereal... It was all presented and cooked well. I really did enjoy it but won't be eating fish anytime again soon. Instant coffee and tea are available complimentary from early morning until after Dinner as is filtered water. We were also able to get ice on a couple occassions. Cocktails are available and during our stay typically two special drinks were offered at F$35 to F$40. Soda was also available for F$5.50 which I thought pretty reasonable. We took three tours - snorkeling at Honeymoon Beach, Blue Lagoon and Sawa-i-Lau Caves. These tours were actually some of the best we have ever taken. If I was just reviewing the tours, a 5 would not be high enough. Overall, the resort was super boring, dirty and buggy.

Bula Heather, We were very saddened to read your review as it is not reflective of the reviews we receive. First and foremost we take pride that our team, made up of the local people from the Nacula Village community, and neighbouring islands, work hard to give our guests a truly magical and hospitable experience. We are very pleased to know you at least had a chance to appreciate and savour in the beauty of Nacula Island. We are very fortunate to be located in the heart of the Yasawas, with crystal blue waters, incredible marine and coral life, soft white sand, and neighbouring sites like the Sawa-I-Lau Caves. In terms of the dining experience, we serve authentic Fijian local meals, and the majority of them feature seafood and fish caught fresh daily. It makes sense to serve our guests delicious meals that are locally caught on a daily basis, and grown fresh in our gardens, rather than depending on frozen meats and produce all the way from the main island. It tastes much better, fresher, and will keep the price at a reasonable rate. With regards to bugs, we are in the tropics and recommend all guest make use of their personal insect repellant. Our outdoor showers are popular with our guests but understand they might not be a 'bug-free' environment. We do take on your feedback and will ensure our team strive for a 'bug-free' Bure experience where possible. As for the conditions of our bures, we have recently renovated them, and the majority of our guests find them comfortable. We're sorry they are not to your standard. We have also had no complaints abut the quality of our linen but will look in to the set provided for your stay to ensure they are as per our usual high standard. Please feel free to contact us directly if you wish to discuss this any further. Vinaka Vakalevu, Dean and the Oarsman's team.
