Disliked: Staff & service, property conditions & facilities
This is an overall okay property. I'm unsure what the positive ratings are with their reviews on service. I'm a Hilton Diamond member and travel frequently. I was in NYC for a week and split my time between the Conrad and this property. Obviously, given the price point difference, there is a huge difference in service, but one would expect basic instructions, breakfast hours, where to find things, etc.
The bad: I was greeted, but no one told me about breakfast accomodations, roof top deck or how to find any other amenities. The hotel is undergoing renovations, the rooftop bar with the view of the Empire State Building is closed seasonally. The rooms are noisy and I frequently heard sirens and street noise despite being 20 floors up. I only found out the rooftop area was closed when I reached out directly, and that was when I was informed of its closure. My tv didnt have a remote and was trash in
the room. I booked a room King City View through Expedia (because it was cheaper than the Honors App) however I was given a room without a view of the Empire State Building. When I arrived at my room and called the front desk, a gentleman told me they dont have any rooms with a view of the Empire State Building. I asked about a room change and he totally gaslighted me said their website doesnt show it and clearly they do.
Being lied to right at check-in sets the tone for a negative stay. So, the reason I stayed here: room with a view and rooftop bar. Poor service.
