Hawaii Yurt luxury for less
Fully furnished with queen beds, refrigerator, and essentials. It's glamping with the comforts of home including tv, wifi, bbq grill, and microwave. Located on the Big Island of Hawaii between Hilo and Kailua Kona. Located approximately 3500 ft elevation on the slopes of Mauna Loa overlooking the southern most tip of Hawaii, the last pristine coastline in Hawaii. The mornings are sunny and overcast afternoons but beautiful starry nights. Aloha from Lisa and Kai of hawaiianjourneys.
This is our second time staying here. The yurts are lovely, comfortable and well equipped. The central skylight shows dazzling stars at night. Communication with Lisa is excellent and speedy and helpful. Love love love the view of South point from up where the weather is delightfully cool, but not cold. We hope to go back again if we can! Thanks!
We enjoyed the property and our stay, close to the things we wanted to do. I would of liked a luggage rack to put suitcases on, but location was great for our trip to the big island! Would stay there again! First time in a yurt, and didn't mind the "toilet" was a different experience! Thank you!!
We had a wonderful stay in our Yurt on the hill. It's way up the hill off the highway but quite serene and spectacular views and lush landscaping make the paradise worth the travel. Who knew the southern west most part of the USA had the best malasada bakery, one of 3 green sand beaches in the world and great restaurants in town?!? Kai and Lisa were great hosts and everything was easy and well appointment. Kai helped check in and texted tips when we forgot his suggestions lol. Amazing time! Fun experience all around.
It was a nice quiet place to stay while I was getting a few things done at my house. The parking was right next to the yurt. The bathroom and sink are in another building. There was a microwave and fridge. The coffee was good. It was windy and the outer window coverings were really loud, so bring earplugs just in case. It was nice to see the stars while laying in bed. I would stay again.
Our stay at the yurt was the best experience we could have hoped for. Lisa and Kai are wonderful hosts, very helpful, responsive and accommodating. The place had breathtaking views at sunrise, and in the night you can see the moon and stars from inside the yurt. Just about everything is provided if you plan on cooking/grilling. I'd 10/10 stay here again or recommend to a friend!
We enjoyed our experience staying in the yurt! We had wanted to do this for a while, and when the opportunity presented itself, we jumped! The yurt was a great size for two people. It had a refrigerator and a microwave, and also a grill outside. There is electricity, but a different system of plumbing. There is water for showering, washing hands, and washing dishes, but there are two toilets, one for pee and an incinerator one for poo (I found this fascinating!). The neighborhood is on the slope of the mountain, so it does get a little chilly at night... it was in the low 50s both nights we were there, so bring appropriate clothing. There is a little heater available, too.
Very quiet location the host was very flexible and responsive. There is no kitchen but bbq has a burner on the side. And the yurt came with all the pots and pans you would need. The yurt it self if very spacious the sky light offers great star gazing from your bed and nice natural light in the day. It is not to far of a drive from amazing attraction like black sand beach and volcano national park. I especially loved the dogs and the cats roaming the property. Wonderful glamping 10/10
Great location for an off-the-grid R&R vacation (with TV, Internet, etc.). Simple amenities in close-by town were good and Kai Lokis was tremendous - food and atmosphere. Wonderful sunsets, sunrises and night sky viewing of stars.
1st time at a yurt. The room was nice. The place was in a more secluded area, but not far from highway access. Being far out, there wasn't a sewer system in place, so the toilet system took us off guard. Overall, nice place and staff was great to work with.
We had a great time staying in ocean view. Lisa and Kai were great hosts, very informative and quick to respond to messages. We had no issues with anything!
Beautiful view from our yurt, but it was not clear in the listing that the yurt had no running water or bathroom IN the yurt. We had a separate private bathroom a short distance from the yurt with 2 toilets, one being an incinerator type (A little complicated, but doable), a shower, and a sink. All dishes had to be taken from the yurt to the bathroom sink to wash them. There was bottled water in the yurt for drinking. Good refrigerator. The yurt is about 10 minutes up the hill from the main highway. You might need to request a fan when arriving. We couldnât find one that was promised.
During our short stay we were able to visit Volcanoes National Park, the Green Sand Beach close to South Point, go night snorkeling with Manta Rays in Kona, visit several beaches, and even drive up Mauna Kea on our last day in Big Island (night flight) - we could not have achieved this and more without staying in such a perfectly placed location, one with unique landscape on its doorstep (the local history of lava flows was truly fascinating). Lisa was a wonderful host who ensured we knew how to use the facilities, and I would definitely check in with her before your arrival to see what supplies are in your specific yurt (previous guests may have left gently used items or extra things behind - we left sunscreen and water bottles, for example).
We love the yurt. It has all the amenities, very comfortable and great location. Actually, for us itâs the best location possible for touring the island. The managers were very helpful and made our stay a wonderful experience. We love the Big Island and our stay at the Yurt here in Oceanside.
