Great private spot for families

Posted May 13, 2023 on HomeAway
This place was a great home base for activities in Pagosa, Durango, and the surrounding areas. The only missing amenity would have been a hot tub, this could really put this place over the top. As others mentioned, noise from floors above is loud, but that is part of staying in a log cabin. We got used to it by the second night and the fandeliers in the rooms help with the noise and comfort.

Beautiful home

Posted Jul. 5, 2022 on HomeAway
This is a beautiful, comfortable home. We enjoyed our stay here. Upon arrival, 2 of the 3 propane tanks were empty. After emailing and texting, they came by and filled them up for us so we could use the grill and the fire pit. It was plenty spacious for our family, and we even had an empty room. There is a pack and play there as well if you have littles. Highly recommend staying here.

Great Accommodations for Large Family

Posted Jun. 20, 2022 on HomeAway
We had ten family members staying at the cabin for our annual Colorado vacation. The cabin was clean, well-stocked, and beautiful. We had no issues with anything while we were there. It's close enough to be convenient to town, but once you're there you would never know it. We loved it and would stay again if we decide to stay in Pagosa Springs again. A fitted sheet for the air mattress would have been good, but everything else was stocked. Thank you for letting us stay in your beautiful cabin.

Mostly Great Stay

Posted Jan. 3, 2022 on HomeAway
The Lazy Beaver cabin is a lovely spacious cabin. The location is great, and the property is beautiful. There was plenty of room and comfortably slept 8 of us. It was warm and had very nice views. We also appreciated having the driveway plowed after the heavy snow. There are a few things keeping this from a five-start rating. The flooring was problematic. Normal walking around in the second-floor bedrooms could be heard quite clearly in the lower-level master bedroom, particularly at night. When someone would get up to go to the bathroom, etc. you could hear every single step. I’m sure this is related to it being a log cabin and a different insulation process, but it is incredibly loud when trying to sleep. In addition, most of us found the ultra-firm pillows provided uncomfortable for sleeping. The other less-than-5-star issue (a much easier fix), is the lack of conveniences, particularly in the kitchen. We found hot chocolate mix, pepper and a seasoning blend - that’s it - no salt, sugar, cooking oil/spray, etc. There was no lighter or matches for the candle we brought and the two that were provided in the cabin and no foil, plastic wrap, etc. that would have made things much easier in terms of food prep. The oven was filthy and smoked up the cabin, and there were only two dishwasher pods, which for a cabin that sleeps 10, two loads of dishes seems unrealistic. Because we were unable to run the dishwasher as needed, we had to wash dishes by hand, however, with only a dish cloth provided (no sponge/scrub brush), cleaning some of the pots and pans was a chore. The photos show a coffee maker with a K-cup option, but the required insert was missing, thus K-cups could not be used. We also could not find a shovel to deal with snow, which would have been very nice. Recognizing that the flooring would be a challenging resolution, a focus on the little things, would have made the experience much better, and increased the star rating. This is an amazing cabin with a ton of potential.

Review

Few issues Main heat did not work from check in. Property manager came by to reset breakers, that did not help. Was not contacted until the afternoon the morning before leaving . Was pointless, at that point, and we were not around for someone to come in, nor were we changing our plans to sit around for someone to come out. Due to the breaker reset, it caused all Netflix Xbox pre log-ins to log out. I sent a message/text to the property manager for a password, that went completely ignored. The floors have no insulation, you can hear everything. Every time someone walked moved or talked. Sounded like elephants stomping around, and it was my 2 year old grandson.

Hi Carol, we wanted to pass along the following feedback from the homeowners: "We are sorry to hear you were less than thrilled with your stay. Unfortunately, on the day of check in, Pagosa Springs experienced an area-wide power outage due to heavy snowfall. Though power came back on, this caused the living room heater to malfunction. Due to heavy demand and this occurring on a weekend, an electrician was not able to come out immediately. The living room has a back up heat supply that guests can use at all times. However, in order to ensure adequate heat, we bought and set up four space heaters for the living room as extra heat. At no time was the living room without heat. The rest of the house had primary heat the entire time. We didn’t receive a message about the passwords and we were in contact with you throughout your stay. When we checked the systems after checkout and receiving this review, the accounts were still logged in. You may have been trying to use the Xbox to sign into Netflix, where the account is directly on the Smart TV (directions on how to use the entertainment systems are in our guide book on site). This is a real wood log cabin, so the wood does not cushion sound like other materials might, however it’s not loud with normal walking around."

This property was beautiful. The scenery and proximity to town was great. AC and heat were available. That was a must. Great overall experience.
