Staff from the Cafe to the Restaurant and Bar's and staff from desk, security and cleaners went out of their way to make your Holiday at Grand Mercure Resort as pleasurable and worry free as possible. Good hotel, great service. Good location, great breakfast variety and halal options too. However the reason I have given 4 stars instead of 5 is because of how damp our room smelt. Even though the weather was very humid, I've never been to a room that smelt that damp. Also I was surprised by how many activities they charged for in kids club. Alot of the free things in kids club were for much younger children but for my daughter who is 5, would not enjoy those ones as she is too old. The ones she would be interested in are the ones they charge for of which one of them was to paint a clay model and that was more suited for her age. So yeah that was disappointing, charging for kids club activities suitable for older children and having nothing free for them thats suitable for them.

Nice property but the rooms need some refreshing. We had stainson the bathroom countertop . Additionally, only one hand toel was provided and no washcloths. There was an unmarked one inch stepdown in the piorly lit bathroom which caused. The staff was super nice and the morning buffet was excellent.

The only thing I did not like was that not one member of staff over my 11 day stay was supervising the self serve food areas at the breakfast buffet to prevent contamination. I personally saw guests handing/eating food and putting it back into the trays. I also saw staff emptying new trays of food onto old food in the trays which should have been cleared first. Guests were put at risk of food poisoning including myself who was ill for 3 days!
