Il Comandante is a large apartment that is located a short walk to the main street of Piedimonte Etneo. It has views of Mt Etna, as well as to the ocean and over Catania. A beautiful view of the city lights at night.Francesca was very welcoming. There ended up being flight delays for a few of our family arriving, and it was not a problem for one of us to check in a little early while the rest arrived at a later time. Once settled, Francesca booked us a place at Ristorante Gianluca Pizzeria for dinner which was an easy walking distance from the apartment. Dinner was fantastic. We all highly recommend the calamari... it was devine!During our stay, a massive storm hit Sicily. Francesca checked in regularly and made sure we were ok, warm and safe.Il Comandante was able to fit our large family very comfortably. It was a homely base, located centrally for us to get to our touristy destinations (Mount Etna, Syracuse, Taormina & Catania) without being too far away. Piedimonte Etneo has has plenty of cafes, bakeries, restaurants, corner stores and scenic views all a short walk away from the apartment. Francesca was very responsive to messages on Whatsapp. Even though we weren't the best at speaking Italian, it's so easy to use Google translate to communicate. Thank you for allowing us to stay in your home for our family holiday. Though the storm put a dampener on our trip for a couple of days we all really enjoyed our stay in Il Comandante.

Super large apartment sleeps 8 -10. Decorated in old world Italian style. It's old and need some renovation. The kitchen needs the most work. It is located near the wineries on Mt. Etna. The beds are super comfy. The balcony wraps around the hugh apartment. The host is super nice and offered assistance for anything we needed.
