An elegant property which has a distinct charm. Convenient for exploring once you have toured the hotel. It might look a little tired in some areas but any renovations have been done in fitting with its history. We would definitely return.

Great location - nostalgic hotel aka very old

Lovely old hotel really lovely place to stay the only issue we had was the noise and lack of cold water in the shower - breakfast was great - bathrooms were very old but as was the hotel so all in keeping. Staff were really friendly and great location. Independent Car Parking was down the road - dodgy looking blokes hanging around cars presumably for money - we didn’t pay them anything and no harm was done to the car - parking is free from 8pm to 8am and pay on easy park app. You can pull up outside hotel to load and unload car. We stayed for two days. Beautiful view of river.

Excellent building and location

Beautiful building but in some need of care and attention, but not a problem and we still enjoyed our stay , excellent location to explore both sides of the river and within a few seconds of some lovely bars

The staff were very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was basic but ok - good pastry and good coffee. The room itself was what we expected and paid for. However we had a problem with mosquitos and both got multiple bites each night. We also had a problem with noise as the streets were very noisy all night and in the early hours of the morning. But this wasn't the hotels fault, it just made it difficult to sleep.

Step back in time in this friendly hotel.

Fantastic location, close to main points of interest. Tower maybe 15mins and restaurants, churches, shops all close by. Try the Bombolini in Piazza Garibaldi ;). Hotel was very friendly and an interesting/ characterful environment. Staff were all great and breakfast was good. We had a river view room which had plenty of space and a lovely outlook.

The property was very cool. The historical factors were amazing and the closeness to the main draw of the area, the tower, is great. The breakfast was lacking in my opinion.

This hotel is very old and the owner does not fix a small thing that make the place safe. The lock for the room is very old and hard to lock and unlock. They should upgrade the lock for this modern technology.,

Great hotel with lots of history and character. Excellent location, we walked from the airport and left by walking to train station. Nice breakfast selection. Bit noisy on a Sat night but we were lucky to have a room that faced onto to the river. Would stay again.

The history of the building is rather neat. The problem is how dirty the room was. There was a rotten, decomposing apple in the corner of my room and my bed sheets were dirty and had dirt in the sheets. It felt as if the room was not cleaned before hand. The breakfast was pretty below average as your options are very limited for a hotel breakfast. Majority filled with pastries that were stale and crackers. The view from the smoking section that overlooks the river was gorgeous but other then that, it was a pretty poor experience.

Convenient hotel location and helpful staff

The hotel location is great for going around in town. It is within about 15 minutes from all attractions and the train station. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful during check-in and check-out. Our room was facing the river and it offered a great view in the morning and evening. A variety of food (bread, cold-cut, juice, fruits, etc.) were served at the breakfast. Included in the breakfast were special coffee which were ordered separately from the staff. The bathroom was kind of old style and was equipped with basic toiletries. A curtain was used in the shower stall of our room although I heard that some rooms have a glass enclosure. Overall, it was a great stay for us in the hotel that is a full of history.

Friendly staff, simple layout to the hotel. Slightly outdated in my honest opinion, just needs a bit of maintenance in places. However I understand the hotel is going for the ‘old fashioned’ look to capture the unique history of the building. Breakfast was fairly average but pleasant. Room was also average but retro interior made it nice. Interesting stay and the acceptable price.
