Really liked staying here. We chose this hotel due to its proximity to Jamaica's prime birding locations and were satisfied with the amenities offered and the kindness of the staff. Chef Mike cooked up some very good meals and was rather flexible with his menu. The night guy, Sifron, spent a good portion of time helping us find and photograph the resident pair of Jamaican Owls
Very nice relaxing location with wonderful garden. Hotel a bit dated - fans not aircon. Very nice staff. Swiffrian the nightwatchman let us in after a late arrival and looked after us very well when we had problems with a flat battery.
Booked Hotel Mockingbird on a whim for my birthday. Iâm so happy I did!
The hotel is tucked away in the hills of Portland, and is such a relaxing getaway. Spent 2 nights with my partner and the hospitality we received was outstanding! The staff is extremely friendly and ready to assist with any concerns you may have.
The restaurant, Wilkeâs, was great. We enjoyed every meal that we had. Our waitress Aneice had the best customer service.
We canât wait for our next staycation at Hotel Mockingbird. Weâll definitely be back.
Hotel MB is the perfect respite from a busy life. Time away to think, regroup, relax .. discover the answers to life!
There is also onsite WIFI if you do not want to totally disconnect from the outside world
Don't expect a luxury hotel chain experience. This is a 10-unit boutique hotel with personal attention from the manager and staff. While perhaps not as glamorous as a five-star hotel, it has infinitely more charm, from the fresh flowers clipped from the property surrounding the hotel to the outdoor dining and pool surrounded by jungle to the musical sounds of birds. Wonderful place to stay!
If you are a birder, this is the place to be. It would have been nice to have the kitchen open and available to guess at all times. We had to plan our meals and times in advance, which was somewhat inconvenient. The gardens are lovely.
For those who like peace and quiet, or are into flora, fauna and bird watching, this is a great property. The views of the water and the Blue Mountains were stunning. Ideally located for those who like walks/hikes. Close to Frenchmenâs Cove and Port Antonio. On our visit, the restaurant was closed (permanently I think). We did order from a local chef that the property is connected to but we had to eat our meals off property. Bring mosquito repellent! There are plenty around. Lots of bugs too. Hard to get away from with the greenery.
This property is a haven of tranquility. The views are stunning, the buildings and common areas meticulously kept, nice pool and the entire setting blends with nature. We had a truly memorable weekend of relaxation there.
Host, Angela, went out of her way to make it special, especially for my daughter who was celebrating a birthday. Keelie kept us fed with delicious food that was beautifully presented.
If you are looking for an oasis of peace and rejuvenation, consider this property. Hotel Mocking Bird Hill is truly a gem. We will be back!
**Overall: My boyfriend & I had a great time for our stay the ambiance of the hotel was relaxing & secluded feeling. To our knowledge the hotel didnât have much to offer amenity wise but it gave us more time to plainly enjoy each otherâs presence.
**If Iâm being critical:
- the water never got hot (luke warm) also showers were a tad complicated to navigate
- No tv, microwave, or fridge in room
- Road driving up to the Hotel was unsettling at night (poor lighting, rough roads, small hotel signs)
- Restaurant/bar was not open (we got food & drinks from local areas & brought back to room)
- No room service or housekeeping entire stay (we were never asked)
- Rooms could be updated (but weâre still nice, clean, & very comfy
**Suggestion: The only thing Iâd change is perhaps offer breakfast as complimentary instead of $25 USD.
- Maybe sell or provide Mosquito burning coils to rooms (as we purchased ours locally & it gave us peace of mind since the room is an open set up)
