It's the perfect time to discover the beautiful Island of Kauai where you can surf, snorkel or paddleboard at the world-famous Hanalei Bay (always ranked top 3 beaches in the world) and hike along the Napali Coast! The Mokihana House has everything: air-conditioning, fully renovated in 2022, breath-taking mountain views, lush tropical landscaping, a spacious backyard, a shared pool and tennis court. With 5 bedrooms & 6 bathrooms, there's plenty of space to make memories with your whole family.

At the Mokihana House Kauai, you will enjoy taking in the views of mountain waterfalls, rainbows and sunsets from the living room, dining room and lanai. You will love sleeping in a cool room with our 6 new air conditioning units - one in every bedroom and a large unit in the main living area. It's very rare to find air conditioning on Kauai! This spacious 5-bedroom private home is in the exclusive 'Sunset Circle Drive' community with its own pool and tennis court for the exclusive use of the owners and guests of the 26 homes. The Mokihana House is set up perfectly for a large extended family, a group of friends who love to hike, surf or golf. It is perfectly located to enjoy all that Princeville has to offer with several beaches just a short drive away - the beautiful surfing village of Hanalei and its world famous beach is just a short 12-minute drive away. Golf is just around the corner and excellent restaurants are nearby. The living and dining room furniture and lighting from Restoration Hardware adds elegance while maintaining a Hawaiian feeling.

We have just finished renovating the entire house inside and out. We installed 6 air conditioning units, new hardwood floors, new tiling, custom window blinds, new mattresses and furnishings, landscaping throughout the backyard, two firepits, an outdoor dining area and 2 new washers and dryers. There are 4 brand new full bathrooms and 2 half-baths. Three of the bedrooms have their own ensuite bathrooms while the queen bedroom and the yellow bedroom share the hallway bathroom. There is a two-piece powder room and an exterior 2-piece bathroom. All the bedrooms are furnished with solid wood, high-quality furnishings, brand new mattresses, tropical linens, Hawaiian decor items, flat-screen TVs, colourful artwork, a ceiling fan and a personal fan for your comfort. The kitchen makeover included new quartz countertops, backsplash and window. It is fully equipped for making fabulous vacation meals; we have coffee makers, a slow-cooker, blender, food processor, toaster, and plenty of pots and pans. We can't imagine that you'll be missing anything you need! Before you retire for the night, have a tropical nightcap in a Tiki mug on the lanai overlooking the breathtaking Kauai mountains and the sunset.

We planted over a hundred mature plants, trees and shrubs to provide a private tropical oasis at the Mokihana House. We created an outdoor dining area, an outdoor firepit in the backyard, a private hot-tub patio off the master bedroom with its own 2-piece bathroom, and a wash-off area with an outdoor heated shower for rinsing off yourself and your surfboard after a long day at the beach. Have a barbecue in the backyard with the plumbed in, brand-new stainless steel Weber barbecue!

The Mokihana House is designed for non-stop enjoyment. We have an outdoor pool table, ping pong, foosball, a hot tub, a shared outdoor heated pool (we supply pool towels) and shared tennis court (we supply tennis racquets and balls - just bring your white-soled shoes). We have plenty of Tommy Bahamas beach chairs, beach towels and coolers to take to the beach. There are also board games that are fun for everyone. We have thought of everything!

House and Recreation Facility Rules

The guest who rents the Mokihana House must be present for the rental period and must complete a rental contract stipulating the names, ages and addresses of all persons in the rental party.

All guests must be at least 30 years of age unless they are children travelling with parents or grandparents.

We do not allow events of any kind - no weddings, bachelor parties or the like.

No additional persons are permitted at the house except those listed on the rental agreement. House sleeps a maximum of 10 persons on the 5 beds. We may make exceptions for very small children but additional charges apply. Inquire with the owners.

Please note that the Mokihana House Kauai is located in a quiet residential neighborhood where most people sleep with their windows open. Kauai is also an island where most people are early to bed and early to rise. Keep your voices down in the evenings as noise really travels in quiet places. The entire Princeville District has strictly enforced noise ordinances with fines of $300 between 7:00 AM – 10:00 PM, $400 between 10:00 PM – 7:00 AM and $500 every 30 minutes if the violation continues - the guest will be charged these fines plus additional administration fees by the homeowners. It is imperative that guests are quiet after 10pm and respectful of our neighbors at all times. This is not a party house. Additional fines apply for breaches of the rental rules or noise ordinances.

Parking must only be on our driveway - no parking is permitted on any roadways or lawns. Fines by Princeville will apply.

No moving of furniture or beds as they break.

No reprogramming or changing settings of electronics.

Additional charges apply for excessive mess, failure to take the garbage cans out, failure to follow the check-out procedure, damage to the property or household items and the like.

The Rules for the Recreational Facilities (pool and tennis court) must be adhered to or fines will apply.

* There is no attendant or lifeguard, so all guests must clean up after themselves and take away all their garbage.
* No glassware; we have acrylic drinkware you can take to the pool.
* No loud music or rough-housing allowed at the pool.
* Do not leave floaties, or pool toys there - take everything away with you.
* Only white-soled shoes on the tennis court - absolutely no bare feet or other footwear is permitted as it ruins the tennis court.
* All children under the age of 16 years must be accompanied at the pool or tennis court by an adult who is responsible for supervising them.
* Be respectful of the community and think of the neighbors who are perhaps not on vacation!

Garbage is picked up on Wednesdays. If the Guest is staying at the property on a Wednesday, the Guest is responsible to take the garbage cans to the curb on Tuesday evening and return to the area by the garage on Wednesday afternoon. Pursuant to the Kauai County Code, Chapter 21, cans must be brought in on the same day as the pick-up, or Guest may incur a $200 fine. If a fine or citation is issued for a breach of the garbage by-laws, the Guest shall be responsible to pay the full cost of the fine and/or citation plus a $500 administration fee to the Homeowner. Never leave garbage of any kind outside for even a short period of time; it attracts wildlife and rodents.

Repairs and Maintenance: Please note that we strive to attend to any repairs or maintenance issues immediately upon notification. However, on Kauai, it is very difficult to conduct timely repairs due to unavailability of tradespeople and slow delivery of materials and parts. No refunds or discounts will be provided due to defects that do not prevent occupancy of the Mokihana House.

Cancellation Policy: If the guest cancels and we are able to secure a replacement reservation, the guest will receive a refund of up to 90% of the amount paid by the guest or up to 90% of the amount received for the replacement reservation, whichever is less. We will provide no refunds in the event of a cancellation if we do not secure a replacement reservation. The VRBO fees paid by the guest will not be refunded. The cleaning fee and any additional person fees or additional bed fees will be refunded. We are not an insurance provider so we do not provide a refund if the guest or any member of the rental party is unable to travel for any reason including illness. We recommend that all travelers purchase cancelation insurance.

Quiet hours are between 10pm and 8am. At all times, respect of the neighbours is required as this is a residential neighbourhood.
Only the guests named on the rental contract are permitted at the property or to use the pool/tennis court without prior written consent from owners.
Guests must take out the garbage cans to the curb on Tuesday evenings and return them to the side yard on Wednesday afternoon.
