We were disappointed to find that the à la carte restaurants were closed for the duration of our 5-day stay, with only one available option for one of the days. This was not communicated to us in advance, which significantly affected our overall experience. Additionally, the hot tub was out of service throughout our visit. More concerning were the instances of roaches—three found in our room and another near the buffet area. While we understand that humidity can contribute to this issue, it raises concerns about cleanliness and maintenance standards. On a positive note, the staff were consistently friendly and courteous, which we appreciated. However, the lack of transparency regarding amenities and the presence of pests made this stay fall short of our expectations. We were told more is offered on the weekend but we were there during the week.

Positive: Beautiful resort & perfect beach. The service & staff were amazing. Lots of activities for the kids & the staff worked hard to make your stay an enjoyable one. They upgraded us to a VIP room which was very new & renovated. Negative: even though there were 4 a la carte restaurants, they only allowed us to use one out of our three nights. The reason was because it was low season. This was very disappointing as this is the main reason I booked this resort. The food lacked quality & variety.

We found the bed sheets with some stains and hair in the shower and bathroom. House keeping department was needed to be contacted! The hallways to the room was filtered was filtration! In the breakfast buffet was one cook employee who wasn't customer service friendly!

My recent visit to Viva Heavens by Wyndham in Puerto Plata was truly enjoyable, and I wanted to share some highlights. From the moment I arrived, the atmosphere was vibrant and welcoming. The resort itself is beautiful, with well-maintained grounds and a lovely pool area perfect for relaxing. My room was comfortable and clean, offering a pleasant retreat after a day in the sun. One of the absolute standouts of my trip was the food, thanks in large part to Chef Amaurys. His culinary skills were evident in every dish I tried. The variety and quality of the meals were exceptional, and Chef Amaurys consistently delivered delicious and memorable dining experiences. It's clear he puts a lot of passion into his work, and it truly elevated the gastronomic aspect of my stay. Equally impressive were the entertainment staff. Their energy and enthusiasm were infectious! They organized a fantastic range of activities throughout the day and evening, ensuring there was always something fun happening. Whether it was poolside games, dance lessons, or evening shows, the entertainment team created a lively and engaging atmosphere that added so much to the overall vacation experience. Their ability to connect with guests and make everyone feel included was remarkable. Overall, Viva Heavens by Wyndham provided a fantastic getaway. The combination of excellent food, thanks to Chef Amaurys, and the outstanding entertainment team made made for a truly memorable vacation. I'd highly recommend it.

Our entire group of girls had an amazing time at Viva Heavens. The staff were extremely welcoming and made our stay so much better. The food was also good for an all-inclusive. We couldn’t have asked for a better time. Even some of the entertainment employees became our friends. We also went during the “off-season” so the hotel was a bit quieter but we didn’t mind that at all since the employees still made it enjoyable. The cleaning service was also very good and always catered to our needs. Very good stay and would come back again. :))

We recently stayed at Viva Heavens by Wyndham with our family and, while the facility itself was well-maintained and the beach beautiful, there were serious issues that would prevent us from ever returning. Most of the staff, including bar and concierge services, were friendly and professional. However, the front desk was a major exception—consistently uncooperative, inflexible, and in one disturbing instance, refused to return my daughter’s passport, creating a situation that felt inappropriate and alarming. As a parent, this was deeply unsettling, especially in a foreign country. I escalated the incident to upper management, who handled the report professionally, but the experience has stayed with us. If you're traveling with children or are a woman traveling alone, I would strongly caution against staying here. The food was another major disappointment—bland at best, and in some cases, caused illness among members of our group. In over 20 years of travel, this was easily the worst food experience we've had on vacation. Given the health issues and lack of quality or variety, the dining alone is enough reason to look elsewhere. In summary: Safety concerns at the front desk, poor food quality, and illness from food/drink made this a regrettable stay. Spend a little more and go to a resort with higher standards.
