For a romantic getaway in beautiful Queenstown, this one-bedroom, lakeside self-contained "Granny Flat" apartment is spacious, with a stunning, rustic, Central Otago feel. The original schist walls of this home were built in the days of horse and cart – giving it a truly authentic, yesteryear charm.



The Space:

ACCOMMODATION DETAILS:

Couple’s Retreat is a spacious "Granny Flat" apartment located under the main house, in a beautiful lakeside location with access to all you could need during your Queenstown getaway.

As you walk in through the front door into the shared access hallway, the laundry is on your left-hand side followed by your own private bathroom.



To your immediate left is the entrance to a secure spacious, open plan living area, with a large dining table, 2 sumptuous couches, full kitchen facilities and a beautiful alfresco area.



This property features a separate bedroom for added privacy, tastefully decorated, with a Queen-size bed and large floor-to-ceiling windows to capture the natural light.



Nestle down during those sunny afternoons in one of the many spots in the outside garden with a book, enjoy a glass of world-renowned Central Otago pinot as the sun sets, or dip your toes in your own little slice of Lake Wakatipu.



Couple’s Retreat is about 50 metres to the waterfront and famous Queenstown walking track – the Frankton Arm.

Situated on the shores of Lake Wakatipu, Queenstown, Couple’s Retreat is a scenic stroll along the waterfront to The Boatshed cafĂ© – a local favourite. You are a 15-minute drive to the centre of town and Queenstown’s ski resorts and leisure activities are all within an hour’s drive away.

- Rates are a guide only & subject to change

- Special events and Christmas/New Year’s tariff subject to increased nightly rates and minimum stay

- Public holiday surcharge of applies to all reservations departing on a public holiday

- Additional fees include pre-arrival inspection, house linens, towels and standard departure clean

- Please note that stays of 7+ nights may require mid-stay clean/linen change where additional charges may apply, booked and paid for in advance.

What we appreciated: Nice view; access to the water; bus line and walking/ biking trail/ water taxi make it a convenient location; nice to have laundry facility and outdoor clothesline; outdoor setting, beautiful roses and nice seating area; woolen throw was luxurious! Improvements to consider: Provide a coffee maker, instructions for the TV satellite service and HVAC; information on local restaurants, transportation; consider later check out time; 10:00 is too early with no storage for luggage, etc.Thank you for sharing your property with us!

This is a very lovely place with a wonderful view of lake and Mountain. It is within walking distance (on a walking and bicycleing path) to places to eat. Location is great! Our comment for improvement would be: 1) add a wardrobe or chifforobe in bedroom for hanging clothes. Present space for hanging clothes is not adequate. 2) Add more lighting in kitchen and dining area. We would rent this place again.

We had a lovely stay here. It has views of the lake and the mountains. Watched jets take off from the airport. The garden area is beautiful. The space was very comfortable. Really enjoyed morning coffee staring at the scenery. It is close to the lake path and not far away are some food places and a microbrewery. We chose to walk to the bus stop about two blocks away to go to and from Queenstown. Very easy. The owner, Neil, met us and showed us around and shared the history of the home which is very interesting. He was so sweet!Access to the bathroom and laundry are in a hallway but we never ran into the owners. And there is a door that locks between the unit and the bathrooms so security was never an issue with us.We would love to come back if we are ever given the chance to return to New Zealand!!

Beautiful views and the perfect location; close to the lakefront and the superb Norka's Kai Cafe is only a few minutes walk away. The apartment itself is well-equipped, with a proper kitchen, a full-sized dining table, comfortable chairs and couches, and excellent heating. But most of all, it really felt like home, and just being there was peaceful and relaxing.

Everything and more!

An awesome spot to stay. We enjoyed being able to go for our morning walks on the Queenstown trail round the lake without having to get in the car - just a short walk down the drive and you’re there!Neil, the owner, was very welcoming and showed us around the place on arrival, with a history lesson thrown in . It was a very clean, peaceful and relaxing place to stay, with stunning views of the lake and Remarkables. Being in walking distance to the marina and its cafes and restaurants was a big plus. Would certainly recommend this spot to a couple wanting a warm, inviting and private place to stay for a weekend or longer get away.

Great little apartment near the lake

Loved the location and the view The living/dining/kitchen area was spacious which was lucky as there was no hanging space nor drawers for our clothes so we had to live with opened suitcases strategically placed around the lounge and bedroom The road outside the bedroom is very noisy but bearable if you keep the windows shut. Great facilities in the kitchen

We had a lovely stay at this property. It was clean and well equipped. The views from the back patio were gorgeous. Traffic made exiting the driveway difficult, but the 2 bus ride into queenstown was quick and easy.

The couples retreat is a wonderful place to stay. Inside is well appointed, access to a beautiful garden and walk to lake front, just as easy as can be. Public transportation just around the corner both to/from airport and to downtown Queenstown. Absolutely perfect.

Blissful getaway

Had a 5 night stay at the Couples Retreat and we were greeted by Neil, the owner, upon arrival. Neil gave us the "tour" and a brief history of the place. Once entering the front door you are faced with the amazing view and spacious dining and living area that you don't really know what to look at first. Visual overload!! Whilst the retreat is a little ways out from the actual city of Queenstown, this did not pose a problem as we had a hire car, used Uber a few times and also made use of the Water Taxi which is not even a 10 minute walk away at the Marina. We also walked in one day along the Frankton Walk which took about an hour from memory. Exceptionally clean and felt like home. Make sure you grab your grocery supplies before arriving which we did at Frankton Woollies. Also, the accommodation is on a very busy road which is not a problem noise wise but exiting the property is a little tricky at certain times of the day. My Husband and I would definitely book to stay here again. A lovely tranquil place to stay with gorgeous views of the mountains and lake

Couple's retreat is a hidden gem. Ground floor apartment on a block with lakeside frontage and access.Very well equipped, beautiful views and to top it off a beautifully maintained private garden.There is off street parking with easy access directly in front of the entrance to the property with only a couple of small steps to go down. We were greeted on arrival by Neil the owner. He showed us around the property and explained how all the appliances worked.He was very knowledgeable about the area and the history of the nearby buildings and gave us very good suggestions for activities and local amenities.However, I believe that the standard instructions are to access a key from a safe to enter the property, so if Neil is not there you may not get the personal tour. The property was quiet.The owners live upstairs but we experienced no noise.We had everything we needed including a lovely space heater for the cooler evenings, washing machine ( shared with owners) outside washing line and inside drying rack in case of rain and plenty of crockery and other kitchen equipment.There were outside chairs and tables and even a small apple orchard/ vine which we were allowed to take a few apples from. h charming owners. Would definitely book again. The bed was very comfortable and the bedroom was quiet even though the property is set back form a main road. Overall an absolutely charming property with charming owners. Would definitely book again.

Perfect Getaway

Thank you again for having us, we had a wonderful stay. The views were amazing (even in the rain!) and the little walking track along the river was a perfect way to end the day. Such a great location, only a 10min drive to Queenstown and such easy access to the roads leading to the mountains. We really appreciated the friendliness and welcoming accomodation of the property owner. Hopefully we’ll see you next time we’re in town!

Great spot!

This apartment is lovely, comfortable and has an excellent location. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Queenstown, close to everything we needed. Our host was incredible, greeting us upon arrival and giving us a quick but complete tour of the apartment. He was very helpful, answered all our questions, made sure we knew he was available if we had further questions, AND wrote an amazing and entertaining history of this immediate little neighborhood, established about 1952, where he and his wife are original owners!! Don’t miss reading it!!

Couple’ s Retreat

We have just completed a 9 day stay at this property and we could not fault it. The apartment is very spacious, spotlessly clean, very well appointed and ideal for a long stay. Very comfortable bed and pillows and even though the bathroom facilities are across the hallway, the hosts are very discreet and we had no issue with the layout. You have full use of the laundry which is perfect for a long stay and also a full kitchen. The views are wonderful and you have use of the lawn in front. Lovely spot for breakfast or an evening drink. Although the bedroom is on the road side of the house, road noise did not bother us. We would highly recommend and use again.

Just terrible - property is inaccurately advertised

Bedroom faces on to the Frankton Road so the noise is unbelievable at this time of year. Nowhere really to park your car. Access to the Lake is non existent. We were told we could go through the neighbouring property but instead got sworn at and abused by the owner. We left the next day.

Nice location

The property is lovely and the owners who live above are also lovely. The location is great, close to Frankton and the remarkables and a short drive in to Queenstown. It was disppointing to only find at the last few days before the trip that the laundry is shared with the owners as is the entrance foyer, which you have to walk through to get to the bathroom and toilet. This wasn’t a big issue for us and the owners are so respectful you hardly know they’re there but this should be made clear in the listing. It does reduce the level of privacy which some people may have an issue with. Other than this Goodstays were very easy to deal with and we loved our stay.
