Horrible horrible place. Do not ever go here. The location listed is wrong and the google maps sent me an hour away. Tried to call the hotel at 1 AM and the lady was extremely rude and said to me “is it my fault you can’t find the hotel?” And giving no alternatives even though they have listed their mailing and the hotel location. How would someone from out country know the difference when they are both listed. Next morning finally drove by it on the way back and it is a horrible old cheap motel. Looks very run down and is in the middle of nowhere. Do not recommend and they won’t even refund me for their error. Worst part of my iceland trip.

We had the best at Hali country cottage! The cottage was impeccably clean and very homely. It was nicely heated upon arrival and we all loved the heated floors! The complementary breakfast was great with alot of options. We had dinner at the Hali restaurant and everything was amazing, especially the cod! Check in was easy and everyone who worked there was super nice and friendly. It is only a 10 mins drive to the diamond beach and jokulsarlon lagoon. Highly recommend the cottage if you’re visiting the area.

worth it and great restaurant
Posted Dec. 4, 2023 on HotelsHali Country Hotel and the team are just wonderful we stayed for 2 nights.
There is also a museum of the local area and local author.
Reception have a Northern Lights monitoring service on a screen and we also had our own apps and were fortunate enough to capture the Northern lights on our cameras dancing in the sky. It's a great position as there isn't much light pollution - the properties at the hotel do have lights on but you can easily move to a darker area near by as they own the land on either side.
Rooms
The accommodation was great too - we stayed in the top apartment of the yellow house which had 2 bedrooms, bathroom and well equiped kitchen, dining, lounge area.
Nearby activities
Would highly recommend staying hear as it's near Diamond Beach and the Glacier Lake plus it's super convenient for Glacier Adventures (which we joined for a day trip too)
Food & drinks
The restaurant for dinner has a great menu and wine list - highly recommend all the local lamb produce - we ate most of the lamb dishes over 2 nights between 2 of us. Breakfast has lots to offer and alternative milks.
Noteworthy details
Do bring all the milk, food, and snacks for lunch (and lunch bags) that you need as there are no local shops anywhere near by.

Breakfast is so good. We loved the homemade lamb sashimi. The only complain is that there is no heater and the floor heating did not work the whole night. The staff told us it should work just wait. but no it did not. The room was cold.
Also the wall is a bit thin. Can hear voices from the hallway and the other room.
