Wonderful Family Trip

Posted Apr. 6, 2023 on HomeAway
The Tradewinds Villa is a little dated. However, it's Roatan. The property ended up being amazing with a bedroom for everyone. The location is ideal as it's in the middle of the island and an easy drive to West End and Camp Bay. The neighbors were amazing. The activities were endless and having Turquois Bay Resort right next door was unbelievable for access to diving and snorkeling. The property managers were great and super helpful. Nothing like a beachfront villa in Roatan! JR

Best waterfront on the island

Posted Jan. 16, 2023 on HomeAway
Yes- it is Roatan, where roads can be a bit rough, but this house was truly the best of all we saw- and we covered the entire island. Excellent location- GREAT neighbors! We snorkeled and kayaked for hours right on the water by the house. Saw Pencil Fish, lobster, seasnakes, colorful fish, jellyfish, eels, and so much more! The house gets messy, as you’ll be so busy playing and sightseeing that sand just tracks in. The kitchen has all you need. Master bedroom had a comfy mattress! The bunks in one room were too smelly for use (kids obviously slept in them). We used the snorkeling gear and it was great! The various decks give you lots of different views. BEWARE OF BUG BITES. We coated up with big spray every moment of the day and we’re bitten horribly by gnats and sand flies near the water. Really ruined a bit of our fun. The manager is wonderful! The bathrooms are great! The electricty was so inexpensive! You’ll LOVE Tradewinds Villa!

Nice place

Nice property, great location. Beware of sand flies - bring some insect repellent down by the beach. Be nice to the guide dog - we called him "Ghi" - he will lead you on walks. Not mentioned is that the electric will be billed separately - for our week there, with all air conditioners set to 26C, we incurred $180US. The switches are goofy - by the last 2 days, we had them mostly figured out.

Quiet, secluded base for island exploring

Posted Jul. 18, 2022 on HomeAway
Meeting us at the airport was greatly appreciated as it would be interesting finding the house without the initial guidance. With some rain the road to the house would get interesting to navigate but not too bad, just take it nice and slow. Simple enough going east or west although going to West End can be quite the exercise depending on time of day. Dock is a really nice area and the kayaks allowed making best use of the time at the dock. For diving, property manager recommended Subway Watersports at Turquoise Bay right next door. Had some great dives with them and can definitely recommend. Communication with property manager quick and easy, issue we had with Wi-fi was cleared up quickly as was following up to make sure things were resolved. Reviews mentioned dated interior and furnishing, which is the case but not unexpected from vacation home. Some of the lights and fans are operated at some odd locations in the living are and master bedroom but all worked just fine. With the mangroves around there is no shortage in mosquitos. The citronella torches were great help but remember to pack your bug repellant. Outdoor shower with both hot and cold water was great for rinse off. Washer and drier use in basement is bit tricky if you are tall (6 ft 5). Kitchen is well equipped with coffee maker, toaster, blender and so on. Bottled drinking water provided and grocery store is 15 minutes drive. Can also get some fruit at local "shops" up the road. Overall enjoyed our 10 days tremendously.

Tradewinds

Posted May 3, 2019 on HomeAway
House was nice, location was good, could go east or west without much difficulty. Clean, pool was right beside house, grounds were kept up nicely, dock was nice. Really liked the "homey" atmosphere in Milton Point. The house itself could use some updating. The furniture in the living room wasn't the most comfortable but the bed in the master was great. One of the fans in the living room was not working and there was only 1 light bulb in that fan. Really liked having AC in living area. Crows nest was very nice and usually a nice breeze up there. Overall would definitely recommend Tradewinds if you want to get away from the crowds but close enough to grocery and restaurants.

Beautiful Home and Location for larger family or group.

Posted Apr. 6, 2019 on HomeAway
The Island of Roatan is gorgeous and we're glad we came. We had 3 families sharing this one beachfront home. It had 3 separate sleeping areas which suited us perfectly. The property managers were very helpful even when a couple of issues arose so we really appreciated that. To the actual owners of the home I would definitely suggest a couple of upgrades such as a new barbecue and to have all the fans working, along with a couple other upgrades. Not expensive to do, but it would add so much to people's stay, and to be honest quite necessary upgrades. It really is a beautiful home, but when you are travelling from so far away and spending that kind of money a few upgrades would go a very long way. Again, the property managers were fantastic and could only do what was in their power to do so. As long as those few upgrades were done we would definitely stay there again. Thanks Brian and Sherri.

Great house, private location

Posted Mar. 6, 2016 on HomeAway
We spent two relaxing weeks at Tradewinds Villa. Properly managers Sherri and Brian were very helpful and were quick to address any questions we had. The house was exactly what we wanted and the location provided us the privacy and access to the beach we were looking for. The reef is about a 15 minute swim in shallow water over sea grass directly in front of the property, but a short kayak to the east at Nava Point the reef is just offshore and we found exceptional snorkelling along the Politilly channel. The house is located on the quieter east half of the island but is within a short drive to restaurants and grocery stores. One of the closest restaurants is Cal's Cantina which had exceptional food and breathtaking views. The house is accessed by a dirt road from the highway and recent heavy rains had carved several deep ruts, but we were able to get in and out with our compact rental car as long as we were careful. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would not hesitate to recommend the house to others.
