We had some concerns about the room we were initially given. However, upon sharing our concerns with Sonder they were able to move us and accomodate us in another of their properties in Rome. They were excellent in their service provision and friendly service.
Sonder is a ridiculous! They sent workmen in while we were sleeping and we were woken by a man moving furniture around in the living area. They cannot just come in whenever they want! Sonder said they had emailed me about replacing wardrobes prior but the email came the same time the men was adiscovered inside the apartment. It was a horrifying experience to be woken by a stranger inside the apartment. Complained but they weren’t serious about it.
Later that afternoon they sent another message to say they had went into the apartment again to fix a leak. This was without prior communication. We were already out when they came in this time and all our personal belongings were inside the apartment. It doesn’t feel safe staying there if people are just coming in and out as they please. They message We came back to find furniture was moved around and the feeling is very scary. They offered €100 to compensate but what makes them think we’d like to stay in any of their accommodations ever again?!
Great little 2-bedroom, super clean, spartanly furnished but adequate. No safe. The hairdryers were near impossible to find (flush drawer under sink, not visible). Windows are not sealed, don't close flush thus allowing noise in and unit is over fairly noisy street. No cooking oil, single salts & pepper, bring these if you plan to do any cooking (but lots of restaurants nearby).
The showers have mildew and hair in them. A couple of the faucets were loose. The couch had stains on it. They give you packs of earplugs because you can hear everybody walking and talking in the apartment above you all night long. It was definitely not worth the money we paid.
Looks can be and in this case, are deceiving. My husband and I have been to the historic part of Rome many times and this time decided to stay at this apartment-like setting for three nights instead of a hotel. We liked this location as it was on a small street between the popular tourist attractions of the Pantheon and Piazza Navona. We arrived at check-in at 4pm and discovered a person cleaning the apartment...dishes were in the sink, bedding was on the floor, bags of garbage were in need of disposal. We were told to come back and it was not until 5:30pm it was ready. Once inside, we discovered the A/C in the main bedroom was not working, the refrigerator was not cold. The couch and rug in the den had awful stains. One bathroom shower stall had mold and the shampoo bottle holders were rusted and falling off the walls. Paint was chipped along window sills and debris was all over the floors. I have pictures and will post if I am able to with this review. The photos online show a beautiful, clean and bright apartment but the decorative touches like books, plants, and rugs under the beds in each bedroom were nonexistent. My husband tried to get the A/C to turn on and refrigerator to work and also looked at the circuit breaker before contacting Sonder. Sonder said a technician would check on the apartment the next morning but by 1PM no one had appeared. We decided to leave this apartment and request a refund for the two additional nights. DO NOT BOOK
Great place to stay. Lots of space. We had an issue with one shower causing lots of water on the floor but they came the next day to address it. That was appreciated. Note there is no lock safe in the suite. That was not told to us. But I would still highly recommend it.
Excellent location, everything close. I would return.

The apartment suited the five of us very well. I especially liked the location, as it was near the action but still quiet. Very clean and comfortable, good beds.

Hidden Gem in Rome
We absolutely LOVED this apartment! It was spacious and everything we needed. The location is perfect to walk everywhere and see many things in the city. Our only hiccup was no hot water in one bathroom. I’m sure it was an easy adjustment to fix. I let Sonder know and someone was coming out once we checked out. I would have let them know the first day, but we just thought it was many people showering. We will 1000% stay again! Thank you!

This property is perfectly located near the best places in Rome but is not directly in the middle of the crowded Roman streets. My family felt very safe and secluded at this property after long days of site-seeing in Rome. We walked to everything and enjoyed every minute of our stay.

Disliked: Cleanliness
Liked the location and quick communication. The place itself was a bit dirty especially the blankets.
Great location but the whole Sonder experience leaves a lot to be desired. I think they try to be part BnB part hotel and end up not really achieving either. A few issues - the place smells terrible - a damp odor throughout but particularly in the bathrooms where there is mould / discoloration on the roof. Windows don’t seal / close properly and worst of all the power kept tripping out. When I asked the staff about this they questioned what appliances we had on. Apparently, you can’t have lights on run the washing machine and the tv at the same time. They said they would send staff to have a look but heard nothing about that and it continued to trip the next morning! No tea towels provided, average linen and quite noisy - probably another issue caused by the windows. The toiletries provided are nice but the dispensers don’t work.
The location of this property was very good for what we had planned to do. The rooms are nicely remodeled and reasonably spacious for a city hotel.
Just be aware that Sonder is not a full service hotel. There is no front desk reception and therefore no immediate help for what you may need.
For example, I needed bag storage on our arrival Christmas Day but all of the storage places the Sonder app recommended indicated they were closed for the holiday. I texted Sonder on the app and asked about earlier checkin and they at first just quoted the same info from the app which I had already explained would not work. After some back and forth they said they would “push through” a request for letting us drop our bags before checkin. I got an email later denying the request. Fortunately, we were able to find a different storage company open nearby and solved the problem on our own.
Another example is that I had a lot of trouble getting my credit card to work on the app to pay the city accommodation tax upon arrival. I tried at least five times with two different cards and always got an error message. These cards were working fine at every other business and online as well otherwise. After texting back and forth for two days l, Somder had to call me and upload my card via a phone bot which finally worked.
These problems were not terrible but were distracting and annoying while on vacation.
