The staff at check-in was not friendly at all and treated us in a clerical and cold manner. Overall, the hotel is old, the carpets are worn and the pool is dirty. You can hear the noise of the next door guests, showers and toilet.

We had ti pay for wifi so didnt use it. Its 2025... free Wifi, get it. We had to pay for parking... get real. $15/day and paying almost $700 for the stay. Get real. Outrageous.

Beautiful surprises!!

Good location, good view from room (we’ve booked for 2 rooms with city view and unexpectedly they have given us 2 rooms with sea view!!) Can tell the building is with some age but overall is clean and experience is good. The buffet breakfast which is already included in price is good. Must try making the DIY smoothie of your own. Love it! We consider the bed is too soft for us.

Had issues with payment even before my stay I booked with third party contacting them was difficult and not helpful. During my stay check in was quite a slow process and room albeit clean was very old, shower needed some wd40 it was very rusty and nothing at all like my previous stays at Novotels. I tried to call reception for approx 15 mins no answer so i had to call emergency and even then nothing. This was very unsafe and poor service/management. Facilities were okay, it was clean and the location was really good.

We had an okay stay at the Novotel. We were hoping for more as it was a special occasion for Mother’s Day weekend although we felt a bit disappointed with our room’s condition. Being a 5 star hotel we thought it would be a nice place to treat ourselves however it felt very standard and rundown - more around a 3 star feel to be honest, especially the bathroom - could use an update! Positive notes were the beds were comfy & the pool was nice and warm. The location of the Novotel being right in the city centre is convenient too!

I was really excited about staying at the Novotel Rotorua as I Have been there before and in pther locations and loved it. But this time I was highly disappointed about the cleanliness . Bathroom hasn’t been scrubbed for a long time, the mirror has toothpaste spots, carpet has rubbish around the beds underneath the bedside table , the kettle absolutely disgusting.The bed sheets have like makeup stains on the top. I expressed my disappointment to the reception and i would have left but was a busy weekend ( the Rotorua Marathon) and we were really tired. They gave us complimentary breakfast which i Appreciated but I have the feeling to express here that for the amount of money we paid I dont feel is worthy. However the staff is respectful and helpful .

Unfortunately the light in our bathroom was leaking, it was quite dangerous and left our bathroom floor dripping with water from the light. In my opinion this was dissapointing. We also ordered room service and the chips were not cooked which was bad as we had a guest and they were not impressed.

I wish I'd read the reviews before staying here. Our lake side suite didn't have a view of the lake. Carpets and couch had stains. There looked to be black felt tip marks on the sheets, tiles in bathroom were hanging off. Hallways weren't vacuumed for the five days we were there and chips were left under a chair for at least three days. I can't believe this is marketed as it is. A huge revamp is needed at this motel. I also won't use WOTIF again!

Exceptional staff at reception - we had 3 different bookings from the same whanau (mum and 2 daughters and their whanau), she was able to arrange us all to be on the same floor which was ideal for the kids and babies as we could easily go from rooms if we needed to do stuff. Great temp for the pool, very good spot went to eat street for dinner. Lovely stay
