Noel and Derma were absolutely great , I loved the property and community . I was a female solo traveler and I couldnât have asked for a better host . Derma was always there to answer questions and Noel made sure I was safe wherever we went in Mobay . The location is also perfect for those wanting to book excursions through Chukka . Which I highly recommend. Also minutes from a beautiful, private beach . I canât wait to return to Jamaica in the future and Iâll definitely be staying here again .
The property was clean ! The host were great ! But in the other hand we only had one tv station the whole time which was Bruce Lee from the 1980âs . The water pressure sucks itâs up itâs down .the pillows also need to be changed flat like someone slept on them for years and never changed only one pillow each . .!! thereâs nothing really in the area with in walking distance no nite life around or close ..
I traveled alone for 3 weeks in Sandy Bay I was as
comfortable with this family as I was with my own. They were very mindful of my coming and goings but gave me lots of privacy. The neighborhood was safe and quiet and many nights I sat out on the patio till 1 or 2am. Can't wait to come back again. My family was pleased as well.
Both Derma and Noel were fantastic hosts. From the evening of our arrival we were warmly welcomed into their home. The apartment felt homely and it was easy for us to settle and enjoy our stay with peace of mind. Regrettably we only booked one week and we were very sad to leave to continue our time in Jamaica.
Estate Home is affordable and it provides an intimate connection not available in the large convention properties with their crowded halls and beaches and jet skis. It is located less than ten miles from the noise and congestion of Montego Bay and one drives along a pleasant seascape through the small town of Hopewell to get to Sandy Bay. The one-bedroom flat is tastefully furnished, has appliances of good quality and Derma Christie is a charming hostess. There is a decent white-sand beach, Orchard Beach, just outside of Hopewell before one gets to Sandy Bay. It is not Negril but the seafloor is pure sand, the water is clear and there are no crowds; there were four other persons on the clean little beach when I went there with my girlfriend. There are no gourmet restaurants close by, just functional concerns that serve Jamaican fare of which chicken is a staple. Still, less than 200 metres west of Hopewell Square, turning left off the road, we found an ordinary-looking place that served, as well as chicken and fish, the best pork and rice dinner I have had in years for the equivalent of US$5.21. We had a rented car which helps if one wants to go for a swim or dinner or sightseeing. One point of interest is the old Tryall Sugar Estate. The property, Estate Home, lies in the heart of a residential development of upwardly-striving Jamaicans, Tryall Heights, and is both pleasant and quiet. I am a teacher and a writer and a New York resident.
