What a wonderful place to stay! Thank you, Sotiria, for making this available in the off-season. We loved the peace and quiet of Pyrgos in December. The entire island was amazing, but we took Sotiriaâs advice to just wander Pyrgos and âget lostâ (though you truly cannot get lost as it all connects together). The cave home was perfect for me, my sister and 2 adult children. Sotiria generously offered to get a small birthday cake for my daughter and even found a wonderful gluten-free option for my sister. I would definitely stay here again and would recommend to others.
Charming accommodation. Exactly as pictured.Very clean and well decorated. The mattresses are very comfortable. The hostess, Sotiria, is very attentive and gave us lots of tourist and gastronomic tips. The breakfast was always delicious and varied. The view from the apartment is very beautiful.I highly recommend it.
We are from the U.S and havenât been to Santorini before, so we were unsure what we were getting into! My husband and I were celebrating our wedding anniversary as well as our daughterâs highschool graduation, we planned 10 days in Santorini. A very nice ATV rental company is very close by so we rented ATVâs and explored all the way up to Oia (as well as other parts of Santorini), we were so glad that we chose to stay in Pygaros! We enjoyed the charming cultural experience this quiet village had to offer - the sights from the property are breathtaking! Pictures donât do it the justice it deserves. Our host was an excellent communicator and very accommodating!
Sotiria is the best host Iâve ever seen. She went out of her way to help us on a couple of occasions. She has a lot of recommendations and good suggestions on where to go. Be sure to have bug repellent, thereâs small spiders that get in the house and theyâre white, blend in with the walls. Be aware that there are a lot of stairs to walk to get to the property so pack light. You can get help from a donkey during the cooler hours of the day, but not in the middle of the day. Sotiria had a work around for us because we were flexible and I was all for no-animal use during hot hours of the day.Conveniently thereâs a restaurant next door which you can access through the back door of the house. That was super nice!
We are a family of 5, parents and 3 young adult children. We are from the US, and this was our first trip to Greece. Our stay in the Castle House was a highlight of our trip. Honestly, the online pictures do not even show the beauty and charm of the house. It is such an authentic, but comfortable, experience - we absolutely loved it! Also, the hostess, Ria, was incredible. She met us at the village square, arranged a donkey to help with the luggage, provided all sorts of recommendations, and was so easy to communicate with - one of the best experiences that I have ever had with a VRBO host! She checked in every day but was not in our way at all.
We would stay here again in a heartbeat!
I did want to leave a couple of comments about the accommodations, since this is a very unique property!
First, there is no hot tub, there is not even a regular tub. I think that this is a translation error.
To get to this property, you have to climb up from the village square. It is about 5 minutes, all uphill. It is not very steep (for the most part), but it is all stairs, of various heights, for at least a solid 5 minutes.
The route to the property from the village is not clear (there are actually many different ways to get there), so assume that you will get lost at least a few times!
The property is beautifully restored but it is not like staying in a modern home - no AC, dishwasher, etc.
That being said, it is a lovely property! Highly recommend!
