This is a simple hotel with the basic necessity provided. Free simple breakfast - coffee, fresh milk, orange juice, tea, bread, salad, egg. I chose the Japanese futon style room for 3 persons. Fit just nice with 3 futon and 3 mid size luggages. Limited space left. It was still a comfortable stay .
Next to one of the tourist attraction so it’s easy to find the way around. Heiranku, a vegetarian friendly shop is just around the corner of the hotel, making it easy to settle my meals there.
Would stay in this hotel again if I visit Takayama again.

Old Facility but clean room and bathroom.
Big room and comfort
Really good location, about 10 min walk from railway station. It's clean, great service. A little bit outdated but for the price we got it (including breakfast) - nothing to complain about. Really recommend this hotel if you want to get good price/quality ratio.

Inexpensive hotel close to train station.
Hotel close to train station and in quiet area. Lots of restaurants close by. Carpet in the room was soiled and dirty. Pillows are very hard.
We loved this nice little hotel. It is a very easy walk from the station and almost next door to a lovely old temple. The rooms were very small but comfortable with unusual pillows which turned out to be excellent. The foyer is a nice meeting place and also the breakfast room. The breakfasts were included and good.
Good economical hotel near the station. As you know by now small rooms are the norm, this was no exception. Free use of bicycle which was GREAT for a couple of hours around this beautiful city.

Great location, a true budget hotel.
A 10-12 minute walk from the station, this hotel is in a quiet street close to the main shopping area of Takayama, and right next to one of the historic temples. Overall, it's not bad, but the place looks as if it could do with a facelift, with the furnishings and decor looking rather worn. Breakfast was good, and staff were helpful.

Adequate But Not Great
Tea cups in room too hot to hold. Toilet flush was very loud and long. Needed help from front desk to operate A/C. No place to put luggage except on chairs. Hight step up to enter bathroom. Stains on hallway floor.

Nice hotel good location
Good location close to everything. Breakfast included. Rooms abit outdated but ok for the price.
Very well located relative to the sights in Takayama, friendly staff. Free coffee & tea throughout the day, plus a free (very light) breakfast in the morning. The room itself was very basic and not as nice as what you'll find in one of the big cities, but it was clean and functional. I'm not sure how much more you can ask for given the price and area. I enjoyed my stay and would stay here again.

Ok hotel in good area
This hotel is what you will expect after seeing it on Hotels.com, its quite run down but still comfortable enough for a short stay, if you are staying longer than 2 nights i would look for something nicer, but staff are very friendly and the free brekky is enough to get you going in the morning and not too much that you are too full for lunch! We had a wonderful view from our room of snow on the mountains so that made up for it being a bit dull in general.
Staff is professional and polite. Limited English. Good location; 4 blocks from station. Most breakfast. Only real drawback is thin walls

Hotel not too far away from JR station. Room size is quite big if compare with other hotels in Japan but looks quite run down. Breakfast is very simple.

Room was small and convenient to the train station and the city sites. The hotel was not as clean and new looking as other hotels we tried in the larger cities, but was certainly fine.

Good location to the bus and train station.
Good free breakfast that saves the trouble hunting for shops around the area.
Takayama has a great hop on and off bus system that makes visiting attractions very easy.
Great winter scenery in March in the folk village
