Great property at a great location with easy connections to tourist attractions. Lobby, restaurants, conservatory and gardens are well maintained. Rooms look old and tired and in need of an overhaul, eg the cupboard

Considering we booked a suite for our 10 year anniversary we found the stay and service very average. Besides a chocolate left in the room there was no other option for anything else. No one ever picked up the phone at night when help was needed. Long wait for food for dinner at the restaurant, we have 2 small children and we were the last to leave! When husband asked for something special to celebrate anniversary there was no options given besides the pastry chef not being available. When asked for a menu when seated outside was just pointed to where to go. With having 2 small children, nothing done to help or make the stay easier. The surroundings and view are probably the best part of the stay, won’t be staying here again.

When we arrived on Saturday we weren’t impressed. Reception staff were not particularly welcoming and the hotel in general seemed to be chaos. Tables full of empty glasses, tables that needed clearing and basically badly understaffed for a sunny summers evening. We had to raise a couple of issues at reception and I was particularly annoyed by staff rolling their eyes at my wife for this. Our room was nice but way too hot. But, all the staff in the restaurant that evening were excellent and the food was great. Next morning the staff at breakfast were also excellent and the rest of our stay was faultless apart from housekeeping missing our room completely the next day. Things got better as time went by and we would definitely visit again. Lovely hotel, excellent location and overall all the staff are lovely. But, front desk team need some training. Overall very good after a poor start.

Now our favourite lakes hotel by far !!!

We stayed at this amazing hotel for our wedding anniversary on the 1st of August for 2 nights. The staff in all areas were out of this world and could not do enough for us especially in the restaurant and I have to give a special mention to Derrick who is incredible and takes a lot of pride in his work and it shows. The food on the first night was one of the best restaurant meals I have had along with impeccable service. My wife had the chicken and said was the best she had eaten and I had the local lamb which was full of flavour and delicious. Then on the second night they surpassed themselves again. Never thought possible. I ordered a blue fillet steak which was cooked to perfection and my wife same but medium again cooked perfectly. The desserts were also to die for. Being a chef this is a great compliment to all the restaurant and kitchen staff Also the breakfast was wonderful plenty of choice from cold buffet, cereal , bread and pastries and then a choice of cooked to order breakfast with locally sourced ingredients the buttermilk pancakes were delicious and the full English. The rooms were spacious and beautifully decorated with great bathrooms and very comfy beds. The housekeeping was impeccable also. Our view was amazing was a view of the lake and gardens from all windows stunning. The leisure club is a joy with a jacuzzi, steam room, sauna and good sized pool with plenty of seating inside and out. They also gave us a free room upgrade, champagne and chocolates

The hotel itself is in a lovely idyllic location on the lake Windermere (lakeside) Very picturesque. The grounds are well maintained. The restaurant food was excellent and staff were very accommodating. The only downside was stains on the carpet in the bedroom and chipped furniture ,bathroom radiator was very rusty and marks on the walls definitely think the room needs to be freshly painted . Asked for extra teas and coffee milk from the reception in the evening but didn’t receive them was very disappointed and for the price we paid £294.00 per night we expected the room to be perfect. Just got back from 3 nights at the Lakeside Hotel. Beautiful hotel and the scenery Lakeside is amazing. So peaceful and so nice to retreat to after a day in places like Bowness. The staff were so friendly and attentive. Food was excellent. A perfect trip and we will be back.
