Owls Nest Beach House - Just Steps From Our Private Beautiful Sandy Beach

Owls Nest Beach House. A large private sandy beach is just a few steps away. The sandy beach is perfect for long walks, swimming, playing in the waves, or just relaxing with your favorite beverage. Enjoy your evening sitting by a beach fire.
The Owls Nest has 4 bedrooms with elevated ceilings and 3 bathrooms. The master bedroom has its own bathroom. The small guest house acts as a second master bed room/living room and has its own bathroom. The Owls Nest has a large open floor plan with a wood burning fire place and elevated ceilings. This beach house is perfect for a family vacation or a quiet romantic getaway.
The kitchen is fully equipped for all of your cooking needs and has a breakfast bar.
The screened in porch is perfect for outside breakfast, lunch, or dinner meals.
Gracon high chair, and Joovy Room2 travel bed are included.
There is plenty of on-site parking.
New Buffalo and Union Pier are just 2 miles away with restaurants, taverns and grocery stores.
It is just a short walk to Whistle Stop convenience store and Red Arrow Road House Tavern.
The Galien River access is just 2 miles away. This Galien river is a 30.0-mile-long river that begins at the outlet of Dayton Lake and flows into Lake Michigan at New Buffalo. The river is perfect for Kayaking or Canoeing.

Owls Nest was perfect for our friends reunion. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes, silverware, cooking utensils, and cookware. There were several spaces where our group of 7 could hang out together comfortably; a screened in porch, a window nook in the living room, outside fire pit, outdoor porch, and dining table. Bedrooms and beds were comfortable and bathrooms were well stocked with towels and linens. And the entire main house and guest house were spotless. Union Pier is a beautiful little town and Owl's Nest is a two minute walk to the beach. There are also multiple restaurants within walking distance from the house.We have been doing this reunion of friend's for about 25 years and this has been our favorite location and accommodation by far.

This was our third year staying at this property and we hope to return. The location is superb -- a short walk to the beach and an easy drive to excellent restaurants. The dedicated bike path along Hwy 12 provides safe biking for a respectable distance.

Nice house with some quirks

We loved renting a house together and being able to fit our entire family there at an affordable price. The owner provided towels, dishes, some kitchen items and also some travel sized toiletries if you forgot them... and I did forget my toothbrush so I was happy to see that. Owner was nice and flexible with us and we really appreciated that. Also, there are two very close entrances, you want to use the one that is all stairs. Much easier than trying to walk up a dune. The owner left instructions for that.A few small quirks - the fridge and freezer won't stay closed consistently so you really have to check on it if you want your items to be cold. The first night we were there, a mouse chewed through a ziplock of granola that we had on the counter. Also, the thermostat was set to go up to 77 during the day at different times.

Such a lovely place to stay for a Michigan beach vacation! This is our second time staying here as a family and we just love it. Very close walk to the beach, Red Arrow Roadhouse, Coffee shop. Ample space for sleeping and lounging and lots of beach equipment to use. Great for families but would also be nice for couples/friends vacation. We are looking forward to staying again!

Better than advertised

The photos don't do the space justice. Very comfortable and very clean. Had all the the things that a person could need in a vacation home for inside outside or the beach. Host was communicative but not overbearing. Absolutely plan to book again.

Lake Michigan adventure

Main house is very nice. Guest house has a trundle. You could squeeze 3-4 in there and it has it's own 3/4 bath. Smells musty even with the AC on. Property is 1-1/2 blocks from beach but then 70 steep stairs or steep dune walk to shoreline. Not good if you have some orthopedic issues. Not sure about the boats. They may have been at the beach but the canoe is alongside the house. There are plenty of beach chairs/umbrellas/toys in the property shed and a wagon. There is no parking directly by the private beach access. Bring your password for streaming services as there is no cable or satellite in the house. We couldn't get cell reception at the beach. There are plenty of places to eat within 10 minutes. If it's a busy time of year you will wait a while at some of them. We had a very nice time!

Quiet, Relaxing Stay

The Owl's Nest is outfitted for complete relaxation in several settings -- great room, screen porch, front porch and fire pit. The location is ideal -- steps from the beach and the Whistle Stop provisioner. Union Pier and New Buffalo have several lovely restaurants and a unique weekend outdoor market at Skip's. Check out Robus with delicious chilled soups and salads. This was our second stay and we will be back.

Amazing Beach Cottage

A superb place for us to bring the whole family for a week at the beach! The combined main cottage and smaller side cabin easily accommodated our family of 9. There were multiple gathering places - both inside and outdoors - for us to hang out. The semi-private, very uncrowded beach was an easy 10-minute walk down the street. And Martin provided all the beach chairs, towels, umbrellas, and sand toys we needed. We especially enjoyed going down for the sunset every evening. We were just far enough away from the New Buffalo rat race, yet within an easy 5-10-minute drive for groceries or dinner out. The Owl's Nest is located in a very quiet residential area, and we even met some of the friendly neighbors. This was an ideal place for our family retreat, Martin was an amazing host, and we are hoping to return next year.

Open concept living. Nice linens, pillows and nicely stocked. Perfect for walking to the beach if your healthy. If you have stair climbing issues this walk to the beach wouldn’t be good. There is a steep incline in the sand and lots of steps. You can’t easily take a wagon up and down the beach entrance. We didn’t mind it at all, but someone with walking challenges wouldn’t be accommodated well. The house was lovely and the owner answered questions super quick. Guest house was musty but very clean and nice. We would definitely come back! Also loved the coffee shop within a half block. We loved that feature!

Great location, fun house

Short walk to the beach, and while the dune was a little steep coming up, it was still very manageable even with infants. Having the coffee shop at the end of the street was a fantastic bonus. We loved the covered porch and huge sun benches! Great for chatting and hanging out. Guest house was cute, probably best suited for teens and kids. Very clean with everything you could need, would stay again next year!

Advertisement of offering of things to do.

We loved staying at your place. Thee only disappointment was the advertisement for the kayaks and canoe. Who could carry those down the steep embankment. Unless you in your 20,s. My husband has a few disabilities . The walk wasn’t far but the embankment going down and mostly coming up was VERY difficult.

Perfect family spot

Our 7 person family had a wonderful beach week! My mom had her own space in the guest house and the main house was perfect for my brother, sister in law their 3 kids and myself (3 bedrooms). The shed had a ton of beach toys and the house was stocked with towels and everything we needed in the kitchen. Martin thought of everything and was super responsive. I was also shocked to see how close the roadhouse restaurant and whistle stop grocer were, just a quick 5m walk. Hoping we can rent again next year!

Very comfortable home!

Spacious main house! The smaller/secondary home was humid and had small bugs, and not 'sealed' from the outdoor elements adequately. A big draw of the home was easy access to the private beach - but it was overrun with 'biting flies' during our stay (first week in June). We're not locals, and weren't aware of this before our stay.
