Prime Ma'alaea Location
Nestled in the peaceful oceanfront community of Island Sands, this condo offers the perfect balance of relaxation and convenience. Its central Maui location makes it easy to explore the island, with Kahului Airport, Wailea, and Lahaina all about 20 minutes away, while Pa'ia, Makawao, and the Kealia Pond National Wildlife Refuge are just a short drive farther. During whale season (November through April), you can often watch humpback whales from your private lanai, while green sea turtles are frequently spotted along the shoreline in front of the resort year-round. A short walk south leads to Haycraft Park and Sugar Beach, Maui's longest undeveloped beach, perfect for swimming, beachcombing, and long sunset strolls. Less than a mile north, Ma'alaea Harbor features restaurants, shops, snorkeling and Molokini tours, whale-watching excursions, sunset cruises, the Maui Ocean Center, and family-friendly attractions. For added convenience, a Maui Bus stop at Ma'alaea Village provides easy access to public transportation to many destinations across the island.

The main reason for only a 3 star evaluation was the bed old and I woke up with a sore back every morning. Also the couch is old and the front of it is lower than the back and u slowly slide down.

Cozy, clean and great view. However, the winds were so strong that we couldn't enjoy the outdoor areas. Fully furnished with all you need. Check-in directions said to open both doors for ventilation, but wind was so strong we felt like stuff was flying off the walls.

Relaxing IS401

IS401 was perfect with ocean and mountain views. It was well stocked in the kitchen from dishes to spices. The people are friendly, and the complex is quiet. You can watch the turtles all day long and never get tired of it. If you're lucky, you may see one resting on the little beach, but please don't disturb. We have stayed at this complex several times and will definitely be back. Thank you Lynn for a great vacation!!

Perfect anniversary vacay!

401 was so perfect for us! It is in the most convenient location, away from all the hustle and in a quiet little nook where you can just sit and listen to the ocean for hours! We had zero issues so that is a plus! We were worried about only having one window unit coming into vacation. But with the lanai doors and windows open all week, it was no problem at all!! We definitely hope to come back!

Don’t look any further. This place was awesome.

We spent 8 glorious nights here and they had everything you could possibly need. The location was fantastic and away from the hustle and Bussel. We were able to watch whales from the Lani anytime we were out there. Short drive to the harbor for whale watching/snorkeling/sunset cruises. Lahaina and Kihei were a short drive. The beach takes a short walk to access but they have parking there if you don’t want the 10 minute walk. Ocean center was next to the harbor. We were sad to leave this little piece of heaven but will be back.

Our condo had the absolute most uncomfortable living room furniture I’ve ever had to endure for 8 days!!! I actually had DIS--comfort while sitting on living room couch, chairs!!! Very poor to subject renters to suffer with crap like that. Makes owners look so unprofessional, uncourteous. The presentation of property (condo) very deceiving online. Everything was old, very worn and not something I would have chosen had I actually seen in realistic photos! Deceiving. Will not trust VRBO in the future.

Fantastic condo in a fantastic area

Great communication from property management. Very easy check-in/check-out. Keyless entry to condo is super convenient. Condo is great & has a LOT of random stuff...beach stuff, sunscreen, after-sunscreen, seasonings, cooking oil, laundry soap/dryer sheets, water filter pitcher, and a TON of books/literature about Maui & things to do there. A LOT of Hawaiian-themed tchotchkes everywhere...possibly too many, as they take up space you might use to put your belongings, but they are cheerful & cute. The winds are crazy & blow right through from the entrance to the balcony...between the wind & ceiling fans, the unit was always comfortable. (The stairwell is across the hall from the condo & the door will bang LOUDLY if it's not closed tightly...) The pool is small, but was never busy. Lounge chairs are really nice...comfy. The grills are nice & worked great. The unit's assigned parking spot is easily seen from the balcony of the condo, which also has an amazing view of the water...we missed the whales, but saw dolphins playing on most mornings. Our only quasi-complaint is about the pillows...there are quite a few of them, but none are very great to sleep on. We definitely recommend this property as a great place to stay on Maui!

Excellent central location

TL/DR - good spot for a decent price. 4-4.5 stars out of 5. Need to find a way to cool the bedroom better. Great spot if you’re looking for a central “home base” for island adventures. Condo is well stocked with everything. Wish we would have found or known about all the beach gear in the master bedroom closet. Those chairs would have been very useful. Lots of cool Hawaiian books to read as well. Building is a little old and needs some work. Doesn’t really affect the stay though. Bedroom is VERY hot to sleep in even with the ceiling fan going. The AC unit cools the living room well but has no effect on the bedroom. Easily 80F in the bedroom at night. There’s a window that can be opened but the screen is broken and people walking in the hallway could easily watch you sleep (super creepy). Screen door to the patio doesn’t slide properly either but didn’t negatively affect the stay.

My wife and I stayed here in March of 2022 for our anniversary and absolutely loved it. Very friendly property manager and easy check-in/out process. Great balcony view and a perfect location on Maui. We will be staying here again for sure! Highly recommend :)

Great Stay!

We loved staying at Mary's property. It was beautifully decorated and the view was amazing. We stayed in July and had no issues with the AC as the air outside was cool at night (AC unit is only in the living room). The only issue we had was with the bed, it was large which was nice but it was too hard and not that comfortable. If you like hard beds you may like it, I was still able to sleep but would have preferred a softer bed. We also could not find the dishwasher detergent, I'm sure if we had asked Mary she would have informed us. Also, personal preference but It would have been nice if the living room window had a larger curtain, i think people outside were able to see in at night. You can tell that Mary put a lot of thought in the rental, there was beach gear in the bedroom closet which was a nice surprise!

Great location

This property was perfect for my wife and I. It is conveniently located just about in the middle of everything on the island which made sight seeing easy.

enjoyed visit

On the ocean with very good views from deck. Noice but small pool. Room well equipped but small and narrow, fine for a week though. Had to travel 15-20 minutes to nearest town for shopping.
