Great communication from booking site regarding access to building, the room was on the very top floor with unfortunately no lift which if you have mobility issues then this may not be the place for you. The room is accessed by your personal access code which is displayed on the digital door handle, the room is fresh and very modern and surprisingly very quiet for its location. Very good qualty furnishings and well fitted modern kitchen and bathroom. This is a very good place to stay and definitely worth the money.

Stayed here from Australia as I was visiting family in the area. Note the are no staff in attendance at the property at all, apart from cleaning team in the morning. There is no lift & a narrow concrete stairwell going up to the apartments. Mine was on the top floor, 6 flights! Entrance to the property is in a dark back alley in a night club area that is noisy at the weekend - leading to the no aircon/open window dilemma. Generally okay, but wouldn't stay again.

Lovely stay

We stayed over for just 1 night. Entry was very simple with the private code to access locks. Our flat was lovely and very clean and looked after. I was amazed with how big the flat was! Mattress on bed super comfy. Would have loved it to be king size but double was ok. It gets quite noisy from nearby club but didn’t bother us.

When I first arrived the room fan was extremely noisy - it would have kept me awake. Luckily I managed to turn it off. Evidently a filter needs replacing. After that the room was very nice. The instructions for entry were good enough but could have been clearer - I didn't have the app and it wasn't necessary. Rather a lot of stairs but nice being at the top.

Let down by details

Apartment was really spacious looked good, was clean, nice little kitchen area. However. One blind didn't have a working chain so I had to pull it down by the blind itself, the other was too short so didn't come down far enough to cover the full window so we had to put the comforter from the bed to fill the gap. There was some sort of fan or extractor in the ceiling but no switch seemed to turn it off. ( I assume faulty as our friends apparentment was ok) It was really loud and made getting to sleep an issue. I messaged about the fan on arrival but didn't receive a reply so we had to just deal with it. In the stairwell , the first flight had a bit of the wall that juts out over the banister. On walking up these stairs after returning in the evening I smashed my head off it. I think a sign or something hazard tape would help, bit of a shock. No concussion but a sore one. Overall relatively nice but small things let down the experience when they build up.

Lovely stay away from home

It was a lovely stay away from home. Would definitely visit again. The only downside was no Aircon. The windows do a good job blocking out the sound from outside considering the hotel is right in the city centre. No noise came through but it meant the flat was too warm. It should be fine once it's winter. Apart from that, it was a lovely apartment and I'd choose it over a traditional hotel.

Great location & safe apartment

Good apartment with newly furnished equipment. Kitchen had basic equipment but good enough for basic cooking. Bed was comfy, shower was great , great little place to stay bang in the centre of Wakefield

A good central location with parking about 200m away. Easy contactless check-in. The property was generally in very good condition, except some damage to the sofa cushion and a blind pull was unattached. Good bed, excellent shower and large TV. Some welcome gifts (tea, coffee, sugar, washing up liquid, spounge) were very helpful. The room was made up each night too which I didn't expect. Overall very good and perfect for my business stay.

Marygate is the best hotel in Wakefield its clean,decor is all done to a high standard the bedding and towels are cleaned every day the staff are very accommodating nothing is too much trouble highly recommend 😀 👍 👌

Very central and good quality. Plenty of room and very clean. Lots of pubs and restaurants nearby. Used a parking app to park in the Wilko car park abut 10 minutes away. No lift and was on the third floor which was a bit of a pain. Would certainly stay again.
