Kabekona Bay on Leech Lake. 3 miles to downtown Walker, MN. West-facing sunset!
The cabin is located on Kabekona Bay, just 5 minutes from downtown Walker, Minnesota. Situated on a harbor peninsula with 400 feet of private lakeshore. Huge yard, clean swimming off the dock & a cozy, comfortable home.
Kabekona Bay is connected to Leech Lake/Walker Bay. Bike and snowmobile trails 100 yards from home. Only 30 minutes to Bemidji or Park Rapids.
Hard sand bottom, walkout beach, great swimming and great fishing. Plenty of walleye caught off the dock!
Sip your coffee on the dock. Have a lakeside lunch on the picnic tables. Kids can play in the large yard or on the play-set.
Home has two bedrooms and two bathrooms. Full kitchen, dining room, living room, 4 season porch. 1 king bed, 1 queen, 2 twins. Large driveway for easy trailer parking.
We stayed here in 2024 and this year as this is right on the Paul Bunyan bike trail and close to the Heartland trail. The property and very relaxing and enjoyed sitting on the dock and watching sunsets!
We stayed at this beautiful property as we are bikers and wanted something close to the trails. This location is right on the Paul Bunyan trail. After biking, we were able to enjoy the dock and swimming was great! The sunsets were gorgeous! The cabin had everything we needed as well for the week.
1. Kabekona Bay was fairly quiet even on 4th of July week. Great water depth for our boat...nice landing nearby...easy to keep boat safe at the dock. Nice yard and huge driveway.
2. There are firearms on the property - some as decor...some chained up with a bike lock. Unsettling if you brought youngsters...or if you've had gun-related trauma. I have no issues with gun ownership, but wish they were locked in a safe in a rental property. Bottom drawer of oven filled with rodent killer and a foul odor. Deck boards rotten in several locations. Zero smoke detectors were working (no batteries) when we arrived. We added batteries. We had to replace some burned out lightbulbs (there were some on site, which was nice). Master bed is very, very soft. Mattress is so thick, the sheets don't stay on. There are 7 dinner plates and 3 steak knives. No pizza pan or cookie sheets. Really nice knives, mixer, and pots/pans, though. 1960's wallpaper, cabinetry, and gross carpet in the kitchen.
3. Convenient check in/check out and great communication. We had a nice stay, but some improvements need to be made to the property (safety, docks, carpet).
The week we were there we experienced all of Minnesota weather conditions. We enjoyed the bike path the fishing the 4 wheeler trails. I agree with the previous review. Home is very nice but could use some updating especially the dock getting a bit rickety. Over all we love this place and always enjoy our time there
The property, the lakefront location, the fire pit, the proximity to everything are worth the price. We had perfect fall weather, and the colors were near prime. We really appreciated the location for our needs. The bathrooms are updated and nice, the cabin is cozy but dated in some areas. Great spot for privacy and lake front access for a boat and access to Leech Lake fishing. Dock set up is very nice but also needs some updating for next season.
We love to bicycle and this location is right on the bike trail with access to over 150 miles of trails. Great place and beautiful view of the lake and sunsets. Definitely would do again.
This cabin is as beautiful as the pictures in the posting and the sunsets even more gorgeous and breath-taking than photos can show. Right on the lake, it is quiet and lovely. The home is right on one of the major bike trails, giving access to miles of trails either way from Walker. The place is a short drive into Walker where there are restaurants, stores and groceries. It is about 1/2 hour from Itaska State park as well. Truly a great experience.
This is a beautiful property right on the shore of Leech Lake. There are wonderful views of the lake. The home is very close to Walker and has neighbors close by but feels quite private. We hiked at nearby Itasca State Park and enjoyed the northern lights on both nights of our stay!
We enjoyed our week staying at this cabin. The location, property and lake were great. We spent a lot of time sitting on the patio enjoying the lake view.
The cabin was nice especially the remodeled bathrooms. My only complaint is that the cabin had a lot of carpet and it was very stained especially in the kitchen and living room. It made it feel dirty.
