Peaceful and private

Beautiful location
Posted Sep. 2, 2022 on HomeAwayThe property is in a beautiful location. It's so peaceful and quiet there with amazing starry nights. The property itself needs a deep cleaning. The windows are very dirty, the outdoor decorative lighting around the firepit didn't work and one of the two vanity light bulbs was out. Definitely a mouse problem as we found fresh mouse poop on the kitchen counters. I emailed the owner after we left to make her aware of these problems and got no response back from her. A simple apology would of been appreciated.

I did reply as soon as we got the message unfortunately you were already departed. You left early due to a family emergency. Had you indicated any unhappiness while you were there I would have had housekeeping come immediately. I’m sorry about any mice issues. It was clean when you arrived. We use the electronic sound deterrents but maybe they are not working properly. We also have decon out and it hasn’t been touched so the mice must be a new issue and we are on it thanks for letting us know. You indicated you didn’t see the value in this stay for what you paid. I am sorry you feel that way. Most other guests leave a 5 star review. The lights around the firepit are solar and were installed as an extra for guests the week you arrived. We are always making improvements such as the new Polly Adirondack chairs around the firepit. We knew the one strand didn’t work because it lacks a second solar panel. Finally my apologies for one bulb being out in the bathroom. We always have extra lightbulbs under the counter in the kitchen. If you would have let us know we would have directed you to the bulb or came and changed it. Most guests don’t mind screwing in a burnt out bulb. Let me know how we can make it up to you. Possibly a discount on a future stay when you don’t have to leave early.

Loved it so much we booked again
Posted Aug. 9, 2022 on HomeAwayThank you for the wonderful stay. It’s not easy finding a great, reasonable place for a family of 5 + dog while traveling through PA on I-80. WAY better than a hotel, which are full of people and have serious pet fees. Well-stocked, had everything we needed and more. Booked again and staying longer to relax and check out the area.

beautiful views
Posted Aug. 8, 2022 on HomeAwaywe had a great time with this place, very private and views were amazing, the cabin had such a homey feel, the kids loved playing on the tire swing. you are in the middle of no where with very little cell service, which was awesome to disconnect , we would definitely stay here again and most likely will travel here just for the cabin

Beautiful cabin and location
Posted Jun. 27, 2022 on HomeAwayThe picture of this property do not do it justice. Our family of 4 really enjoyed our short stay at the cabin. The cabin was nice and clean and had everything we needed. The grounds surrounding the cabin were beautifully kept and maintained. We enjoyed countless hours sitting outside admiring the views or sitting by a fire. Check-in and put process was super easy and the property manager was instantly responsive. Definitely recommend to anyone looking for a nice getaway.

Long weekend getaway
Posted Jul. 10, 2021 on HomeAwayQuintessential cabin in the woods. Absolutely stunning views of the seven mountains. The abundance of firewood made for perfect bonfires every night of our stay. The overview for this property on expedia.com is a bit misleading. It describes features available at Rough Cut Lodge in Gaines where we have also spent an amazing weekend. The overview mentions private access to the creek and fire pits in the backyard and at the creek which is an amazing feature at Rough Cut. I am sure this is merely an oversight but we wanted to make you aware. Our stay was absolutely relaxing and being surrounded by the beauty of nature was well worth it!

Amazing
Posted Jun. 20, 2021 on HomeAwayThe pictures, as good as they are, don’t even do justice to how beautiful the property was! It is all so well kept and the views are unbelievable, and there are so many great places to just enjoy the views and nature. The cabin worked for seven of us (as others said, it was a bit tight with this many, but everything was clean and as advertised). But with such beautiful outdoor spaces, we didn’t spend much time indoors anyways! The closest stores to shop are like a 50-minute round trip, so just come with everything you need (though there is a dollar general for essentials closer).
